Default New to the world of modern cloth :o)

Hi girls,

My name is Dana and I'm addicted to cloth Nicky (Nic Naps) got me started onto cloth and now I'm well and truly addicted! I have a DS who is nearly 2.5 and am pg with a DD due 24 Oct. My original plan was to gradually get a stash to use on DD but now I've started buying a few for DS as well as he's not showing any interest in TT and I can always use them for DD anyway. I'm still pretty new to this.

I was thinking of buying some flats or pre-folds for DS as well, how easy are pre-folds to use? Which fold would you recommend for 14-15kg boy who is a moderate wetter?

Thanks heaps

Howdy and welcome! It's been a while since I had to think about folds, but I'm sure the knowledgeable ones *bow, bow* will be in to tell you soon...

Hi Dana!
Welcome to NC!
If you post your question in the Traditional terries sections (I think we kinda include all flat nappies in there), someone should be along to help answer that for you. I've used prefolds a little and found them simple enough, but just prefer our fitteds! Enjoy.

Hi Dana

Welcome to Nappycino. It's very easy to become addicted to nappies isn't it? Whoever would have thought!

I'm sure you'll get lots of help on here.

hi
welcome to the forum

I use terries, I love them more than modern cloth which is weird I know but I love longies and shorties...

my DS is only 15 months but I use the kite fold and it works fine
I boost at night with a hemp booster and put him in a soaker or PUL cover

there are some fab folds out there though

hi and welcome dana

i am going on holidays soon, and will be folding flannelette squares into a 'pad' shape, and laying that inside a fleece cover. (and covering with a BIG fleece liner) - you could do it with prefolds or terries too - but i will be looking at the fastest possible drying time in the snow! i wouldn't recommend it for younger babies who have alot of runny poo's though - usually it will end up on the cover

Hi Dana

I mainly use my prefolds in my pockets but like joh said they are great for laying in a fleece cover like a pad, quick and easy.

Welcome.
As they get older they tend to wet more. And if you are trying to fold a flat to fit around your bub as well as having enough fabric to be in the wet zones where it is needed most you can find it difficult.
I agree with trying out some pockets. I just stuff mine with some flannelette flats I bought from Coles, but because of the pocket I can stuff it so that the absorbent fabric is all where i need it to be, not spread out over their hips to pin it on.
Check out sandrasstuffables.com.au for some great WAHM made pockets, or theweewuns.au.com for some great WAHM sold US made fuzzi bunz (and other pockets, but the fuzzi bunz definitely come in the larger size you would probably need).
