What about Contours? I just oredered a 6 pack from Nurture Nappies for $40 and that would solve her needing to fold them (in case that is one thing that puts her off prefolds?) She would still need a few good covers but the contours are pretty cheap and can be used as boosters/stuffers later too!

I used BB Hemp when Isabel was a newborn on the small size setting. I also had some BubbaJ size 1s that still fit Isabel now on the largest settings. So even though they're a little more expensive, the BBs should last for most (if not all) of the time the bubba is in nappies.

I've never seen a fluffies so don't know if they're a one size nappy or not.

In terms of economy, I use fluffies nappies that I've picked up in opshops while we are at home. I find myself changing bub every 1/2 hour to hour. If he is in a good fitted (bubba J hemp, BBH or BBB etc) I usually get away with changing every 2 to 3 hours (barring poos, etc). Say a fluffie costs $11 new, and a fitted $25 new, you can say that you would only need half as many fitteds . Fluffies come in two sizes, up to 6kg and 5 - 11kg. The BB and many other brands are one size which covers this range plus more. If you're paying 50c for them in an opshop, fluffies are worth having to pad out your stash, but buying them new is false economy

For a newborn, nothing can go past a pack of flannelette flats in terms of ease of use, affordability and quick drying time. They are always in use here, and I have a huge assortment of Modern Cloth to choose from :lol

The new mandy mac nappies will work out cheap.

I think something like $16 each for orders of a dozen or so. I think don't quote me on that .

Do you mean Fluffies covers? I didn't know they made nappies. I used fluffies covers form birth to 6 months with flannie or terry flats. No probs, day or night. IMO they *are* the most cost effective option.......

I think she means fluffies nappies - the covers are OK if youre desparate, but IMO the nappies are pretty bad.

Yeah, Mandy Macs are pretty cheap, one-size, with liner, boosters and they are hemp! I think you can get them to equate to $14 each in the biggest package and get free postage!
