Soakers are fine under anything really as long as the nappy is boosted well or changed often enough. Breathable fabrics are best though I find.

We use sleeping bags or longies when its cooler (has been a while)
I noticed though if bub wears a soaker under jeans in the pram he gets leaks.
The soaker will be dry but the jeans will be soaked.
I have a woolen blanket (just a small one) lining the pram which is good.

I like woven wool covers under PJ's for winter. I'd keep the knitteds for day time wear and get something like the loveybums thicker wool covers from Darlings Downunder. I've got this one with red stitching for Ashwyn, we use it for day time now but it'll be great when the weather starts to cool down

Fleece cover work well for us overnight as well, though I much prefer the natural materials
