Default Newborn Covers?

Hi! I am expecting our first bub in 10 weeks, and am hoping to go cloth all the way! I was just starting to work out what nappies I wanted/needed when my SIL told us that they will buy us a nappy service! So it will be flanny flats for us for the first.......I don't know how long yet, but I think three months.

So now I need some advice as to what everyone thinks will be the best covers, how many, and what sort of sizing. I was thinking of trying the following -

Eenees Snibs
Motherease Rikki
Bambino Mio
Bummis SWW

Obviously these are PUL covers, is there any other sort that are good, or better, for NBs? I'm assuming that wool would sort of be a waste of time initially as you're changing bubs so often?

I already have some unbleached cotton prefolds, and flanny flats, which I will use after the service runs out, and will definitely be supplementing with some nice fitteds etc!

Also (am really hopeless in this area!) what would you recommend for out and about with a NB? I'm really not fussed about using different sorts of nappies, happy to use anything that does the job (without breaking the bank!).

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

Your selection of covers sounds great. I use all but the snibs, but they come highly reccomended anyway.
Maybe think about getting a fleece cover (or 2) as well, you may find you like them better. Joh might come along to suggest some of these for you. I don't know of many!

Hope it goes well for you. Have you looked up the 'no-pins-flanny-fold'? It's great, the only one I used. I did the slightly altered version.

(have you introduced yourself yet in the getting to know you thread???)

Tots Bots covers are also very good The new cut has a gusset which makes them a little trimmer fitting, and snugger around the legs, more like the Bummis wraps.

I loved bummis and motherease and would definately recommend a fleece cover or 2...whizz kids comes to mind for affordable fleece covers in a small size.

I had one tiny bubblebubs which was my fave for going out as it never ever leaked even with the huge runny poos. Most of my NB fitteds were borrowed and all were good...esp with a cood cover.

Thanks so much ladies!

I will definitely look into getting a couple of fleece covers, I hadn't thought of them. Will look into the Tots Bots covers and bubblebubs as well

How many covers do you think I will need? I'm assuming I'll be able to throw them in the wash with other stuff? (seeing as I won't be washing nappies to start with). I would probably need enough to wash every second day.

Skye, the fold from Kristy's Gallery? Yes I've looked that up and memorised it so I can use it in hossy! It's great to hear from someone who's actually used it though, and even better found it to be good LOL. Is the altered version on the website?

Oh, off to inroduce myself now.......

I love fleece covers.. they're comfy, easy to wash, dry quick and they're durable.
I used mostly small VB fleece covers early on
you can buy them at the WeeWuns

I really loved the Motherease Rikkis. The gusset legs were fantastic for a newborn

we used the eenee snibs initially and would highly recommend them, then once Lily outgrew them we bought some motherease and bummis covers; we preferred the motherease

Um, what's a VB fleece cover? Sorry, I looked at the weewuns site, but couldn't see what that might be!

I had a look at the bubblebubs, they look great, but obviously you have to be quick LOL! Do they restock very often? Same goes with the whizz kidz fleece covers, I'm really going to have to get on the ball, aren't I?

It suddenly occurred to me last night that if I don't want to use sposies I'll need a 'going home' nappy for when we leave hossy! Sooooooo, aside from the bubblebubs, what do you all think would be a good way to go????

Thanks so much for all your advice, I'm so glad I'm came here, you girls are the best!
