If that is NGH Megan - they are fine with you bringing your own cloth...just with a sealable nappy bucket and as long as someone can take them home each day.
The MWs were stunned I even mentioned cloth....but didn't baulk at it...

I find good ol' terry squares easiest for newborns, TBH. It's the easiest way for me to judge how wet the nappy is. I can't tell with some of my super-absorbent MCN's (I use fitted + cover til they're on solids).

Nicki - are you meaning after the baby is a bit older? Not a newborn?
Fortunately I dont know too many people who have to have their kids in hospital, and only one of them I know is a cloth user - Shannon who is on this forum. Not sure if she does cloth or sposie when her daughter is in.

I guess it depends how long bubs is in there for, and how much time you are spending there too, and if you have time to wash them when you aren't at the hossy.
I should imagine that if the hospital uses cloth for the newborns anyway, they would probably let you use theirs, but you would need to bring in decent covers to hold in poop etc. so the sheets didn't need changing all the time.
Like Kermi says though - a big wet bag would be a must.

I did have Jess at NGH Carmen, so that's good to know for next time Didn't see any cloth bubbas there with Jessica Pity they could've talked me 'round so I'd known better. I'm gonna go with your tip and ask them how I can be organised to use my own cloth there next time

I'm already getting excited about having a newborn in cloth and I'm not even pregnant yet

Use fitteds, and a cover, and the nappy bucket sounds like a good idea- better than flats- they pee right through.

I used cloth nappies when Gab was in hospital with croup. No one noticed or said anything - tho Gab was 20 months old.

Yep... just her regular MCN's. Neil took them home each day (I only have a small bummi's tote to put them in).

depends on the hospital and the ward. In the post natal ward at the Canberra hospital they supply you with sposies (which is why I ended up using sposies for the first 7 months for jack sad huh!) but in the pead ward they supply you with terry flats.

Things must have changed in the kids ward at TCH. Sophia was there for a week in 2004 and we had to BYO sposies. Plus they were so overcrowded that no food ever arrived for me, so I lost a kilo and a half in that week from bf'ing extra (she was sick) while living off muesli bars from my handbag.

I think it's great they have terries at QEII though. I took Jools for sleep issues in 2006 and it was great to see that she could sleep all night in a terry - so a wet bum was not the cause of her waking at home!
