Thats strange, Jack was in there in July 2004 for a week too! Unfortunately I didn't take up the offere of the terries and just used my own sposies.
ETA The food is so awful there your muesli bars were probably better. I honestly have never had worse food in my life! That sux though that they were so slack with it!

When I had Eliza at Baulkham Hills Private they use terry squares until they do a good wee then they provided a packet of sposies

Next time I would just assume I could take my own cloth if I brought a bucket and got DH to take them home each day. if you are taking care of yourself so to speak I cannot see how they could argue? You could also play the "baby's allergic to sposies" line.

Nothing wrong with flats with a cover We use flats on our 12 month old sometimes and they work fine with a wool soaker, and she wee's loads more than a newborn. I plan to use flats and PUL covers on a newborn and and have some fitteds/AIO's for going out and showing off for visitors More than likely I would go overboard and buy a tonne of newborn stuff though if I get pregnant again

I think it's awesome that some hospitals supply terry or flannie flats, what better way to encourage parents to give cloth a try when you don't have to wash 'em yourself.

I guess we could of. Being a first time Mum and all the associated stress/anxiety that, TBH nappies were the last thing on my mind. I used the NB sposies until I got home as I only had cloth at home.

As we have now moved, my choice for next time would be to use Belmont Birthing Service (one to one midwife care), and then you only stay for 4-6 hrs after birth so its not going to be an issue next time

We were at TCH in Nov 2004, they'd just started renovating so had crowded everyone into half the space they used to have.

JJMH in Canberra provides a packet of sposies. They also discourage dads from rooming in, and a few other things that don't suit me.

St Vincent's in Melb provide only cloth (flanny flats) and if you want sposies you have to bring them yourself. When D was in the RCH for 5 days a week after birth, TBH, taking my cloth was the last thing on my mind as she was so unwell.

I like the idea of not asking but telling them what you will be doing. I cant see why a hospital would say "no cloth", wouldnt that be like saying " no denim" or "no white cotton granny knickers, red g-stings only" :p

Amanda-Jane - I'd ring and ask why because it might be for a really silly reason that you can challenge!

^^^TIP^^^

jessicas_mamma, have you thought of folding a towel/prefold into a rectangle? And putting that into a newborn snibb/bummi/etc? Less leaks and NO PINS!
