I just got a bag of 2nd hand terry flats and some of my own (12yrs old) returned after a friend used them - but not on 'bums'
how do I make them super soft and absorbant ? hot wash or not ? first time or regularly ? line dry or dryer ($$$) occasionally ? |

Most of my terry flats are pretty new so are still quite soft even after the sun! My Mum gave me a terry flat she had kept from us kids (their are 4 of us and my sister is 31) so this nappy is over 30 years old and quite thin after four kids! A bout in the dryer every now and then makes it fluff up nicely and still absorbent. I hot wash the flats about every 4th wash they get.
I wish she'd kept all our flats (we only wore cloth) because this one is still square after all those years yet mine have gone out of shape already. She must have taken good care of her nappies

I agree with the dryer idea - it's the only thing that makes my 2nd hand ones soft. Also make sure you give them a good flick before hanging on the line to help them stay in shape.

not a problem
