Hopefully the next generation will have more oportunity for that!

Have you thought about peapods? They are very economical if you want MCN

check out the frugal nappying thread
:Frugal Nappying i thought pockets were great - you can use them as covers if you pad fold a flat nappy and lay it in them (on top of fleece) and add a fleece liner ![]() and i discovered flats were fun, with a fleece liner and a fleece cover

"they" are in some places...
not necessarily cheap though unless you're talking flats.

Compared to spending $XX each week on plastic, I think they are all 'cheap'
![]() The thing I love the most.....is if I am broke I don't have to 'find' the money from somewhere. I don't need anymore nappies but if I happen to have some money come in unexpectedly I do indulge

I've given up trying to find really cheap nappies as they generally don't do the job, atleast for my big wetter. I will however be investing in some gorgeous bamboo prefolds when they're back at iishfly as they're cheap and soft and do a great job. If you want fitteds there are always ecostars, and peapods for pockets, or sometimes there are cheap wahm made nappies on ebay or b4b but you have to be careful about what they're made of and how they're made, especially on ebay. I have seen some decent pockets and fitteds there though. If sewing your own isn't working for you, you could do the halfway thing and get cheap ones to "improve", like pulling the wadding out of fluffies and putting something actually absorbent in there, or I've gotten an old pul pocket and added a fleece layer to the outside so it looks and works better. Stuff like that is easy enough without having to learn to sew properly, though I will be taking lessons so I can learn to sew my own pretty things. That said, you pay for quality, and I don't mind sacrificing some of my income for a comfy bum!
