Default First time for wool

Hi everyone,
I am new and certainly a keen cloth user. I have my mum knitting me a 'soaker' from one of the pattern on NC, but i am not sure how i am going to use it.

I have read on NC that the wool cover is good for night but it can leak if compressed ie in a car seat..... but how about in bed?

I use terry towel flats and PUL wraps and even for nights I don't have too many leaks at nearly 6 months.

I like the idea of wool as it is so natural. So my questions are:
will it leak? do i just put it on over the top off the terry nappy? and how often do you have to lanolise?

Also interested if anyone from Vic wants to meet or vouch for me so i can join the Vic forums.

All the best,

Karen, not sure if I can help much, but..
I've never had any leaks with my wool soakers. They work fantastically.
Yes - just put it over the top of the nappy
I'm prob a bit lazy with lanolising, but I do mine about each 2 mths.
Hope this helps

My mum knitted me a couple of soakers...yeah for mums! I lanolise them each time I wash them, which is about every 3 weeks.

I use them in the car, just put a fresh nappy on (BBB) just before I leave, and so far it has been ok for the 45 minute drive. No leaks in bed....yet.

My Mum is also knitting me soakers (she's onto the fourth style just so I can find out what works best - bless her!) and although we have saturated night nappies we're yet to have a leak with the wool soaker. Mind you, the one we're using so far has legs and a high waist. I haven't tried to wrappy type ones that she's knitted me yet (I'm lazy when it comes to lanolising too and just haven't got around to getting them ready for use!)

Thanks guys!!
It's great having this forum to find things out - must do a post re folds for flats....

I have taken possession of the first pair of soakers and they are so so cute. I just have to lanolise and we're off or should i say on?

Anyway thank you so much.
