I used terry flats exclusively for months, with three in full-time nappies-they're definitely underrated. I still use them about half the time.

i thought if you cut them in half and folded them then you could use them as pp pads-on the cheap

I love them, but stopped using them once the 'jo fold' stopped fitting. They dry so quickly. Is there a fold you can use for an 18kg boy? I never considered this before, but you obviously boost them don't you?

I use them exclusively for day use with a PUL over the top. I have just purchased 2 sandmans and 2 mandy macs AIO that I will use for night use with a wool soaker over the top.

Janet, your signature is so cute!

I just thought I'd point out, there are a lot of terry flat users out there who don't venture onto the internet to discuss cloth. I have met quite a few! They just get on with using cloth, and don't even realise there's options other than flats out there.

Though most of the ones I know use cloth to save money, so they are a tad horrified at the cost of MCN's! When you're already using flats not disposables, the 'save money' argument is not quite so convincing LOL.

I use them every now and then. I enjoy folding them and love how cute DS looks in a white terry. I usually put a wool covers with them though. I have 2 friends who use them and outright refuse to even try MCN, so you're not alone!

My DS was a terry flat boy (and still is at night time), however we have well and truely embraced MCN for DD. She is such a petite thing that even now at 18months the terry nappies seem so hugh on her.

Beanie.. thanks for the compliment .. having a gorgeous gal makes having a nice siggy easier

as for the cloth users ..I have to admit of all the ppl that I know that have had bubs in the past 2-3 years I am the only one that has gone the cloth route. The basic consensus when they see Adison in a flat is 'your game or you will get tired of them'.
I am the one with the last laugh as she is yet to have nappy rash or have what appears to be a plastic bum.

I guess I use them for a few reasons they are cheaper than the alternative, better for the environment, better for her bum and not only that they look great on the line! I forgot the most important reason - DH is a scrooge with our $$ so spending on disposies each week was never going to happen! LOL

I like cloth but didnt like the plastic covers for over the top of them or that terry flats on their own are not that absorbant with my heavy wetting bub, so I started researching on essential baby ... now I have an addiction that DH cant complain about as they are reusable ! I love the bright covers and the using bamboo and hemp nappies appealed as well. Have just purchased some micro fleece (hope its the right sort!) from spotlight to use as boosters instead of face washers like I have been.

I used flats with Holly for a few months but she was drenching them in less than an hour. Of course I only knew about PVC covers then too. THEN I discovered the wonderful world of MCN. I made all of my own at first cause we were living on one wage and the price was a bit out of our reach.
Now that we are doing a bit better though, I love buying them (new or second hand). We couldn't get through the night without hemp or bamboo though. All 3 of my girls have been huge wetters. We've just discovered Wildchild night nappies though which are the best I've ever found for my big pee pots!

Oh I did love bamboo flats with Caileigh though. So trim and gorgeous. I'll be doing them again for the next baby for the first couple of months. I also love seeing the white flats blowing in the breeze on the clothesline.
