go for it Aimee! I have a small but growing nb stash for our next, yet to be conceived, yet to be attempted to be conceived baby
I also had a layby of nb stuff like Ying, hehe, its so fun picking out little stuff!!
I can't remember all of what I have, but off the top of my head I had a few VB AIOs and some prefolds....oh and the cutest little VB fitteds

i was thinking this just yesterday actually! i had already got a couple of little nappies when i was pg earlier this year (sadly not meant to be either) and thought, would the elastic go? i think i'll hang on to them! even though we don't plan on even starting TTC until late next year!

I didn't start buying again until we had conceived and even then tried to take it slowly (although now at 20 weeks my stash is pretty much complete) as I was worried I would buy up big and then something new would come on the market which I "had to have".

I have bought a few new things which I never had before as I just did terry flats from newborn last time, so it should be a lot of fun when bubba finally arrives.

In answer to your question, I don't think that the elastic will deteriorate.
