Cathy - unfortunately I'm not Tania's cousin but nice to meet you anyway!!

JohT - Yes the pack actually comes with 6 covers.....4 printed and 2 plain they are the small size. So I thought I would just buy 2 of the newborn to make sure it's a snug fit if he's smaller than the 3.6kg threshold.

and thanks for the headsup Lissab on the microfleece/microfibre. I got it mixed up! So fleece is ok but microfibre is not. then you should use a liner on top right? Or use the microfibre inside a pocket or sock?

Hi Claire,

Four covers in any one size is perfect for us. Two to switch between during the day and two in the wash for washing every second day...or washing daily you'll have a couple of extras in case the ones you're using do get poo on them!

If he's a big bubba and you don't use the newborn ones, they'll always be easy to sell too.

Microfibre is a fantastic extra absobent layer. You could fold it inside the prefold but, to be honest, with all of those newborn poos, you'll be changing the nappy so often you won't need that extra absobency for the first few weeks.

I don't like microfleece liners on my little one...still exclusively breastfed so just like newborn poo. The stain still gets through the liner onto the nappy, the liner slows down the moisture getting into the absorbent layers and it's just another layer to wash. Liners are fantastic on my toddler, although I'm leaning towards flushable liners on him and using the micofibre ones only if I need to use a rash cream.

So much to sort out as you start this journey!
