Default tell me about flongies / fleece covers..

i'm a bit sceptical about whether this actually works, but lots of ppl seem to do it..
can a fitted nappy, with no cover, really just go under fleece pants, with no wicking / dampness on the outside? what about with compression?

would this work just as well with fleecy clothes made of 100% polyester? ie could i just have baby in an uncovered diaper in poly trackies? or pants/shorts made of minkee/ fun fur?

how many hours does this work for? compared to pockets, fitteds + pul covers, fitteds + wool...

It needs to be 2 layers at least in the wetzone, Jacynth, unless it's Malden Mills fleece. We use home-made fleece pants w' a second wetzonelayer and it's almost comparable to wool for us (except that it is more prone to being smelly in the morning and I have to wash it each time).
One-layer poly fleece trackies might be ok for daytime with a crawling/toddling baby but once the nappy started to get quite wet it would get compression leaks.

I used my first flongies last night and let me tell you I think I'll be using these more than woolies.
At least I don't have to bother with lanolising, and delicate washes etc....
Worked great..I used a BBB with both boosters and an extra microfiber booster hidden underneath and it came out sopping wet this morning, but the pants were all good...both boys are still wearing them now.

i really like flongies for day use.

i've seen two different styles of flongies.

one was 100% polyester, polar fleece trousers with hidden layer inside of microfleece little shorts.

one was 100% polyester, polar fleece trousers with hidden layer inside of microfleece sling, only sewn at waistband, front and back.

both work to be a waterproof barrier.

It's kinda like the whole wool thing, until you do it, it's hard to believe it will work.

all i can say, is, we tried it, and it worked perfectly. I have yet to try it "out and about" yet. Have only used the flongies at home.

i wouldn't do it at all with a normal pair of tracky pants, they use a different fleece and don't ahve the second hidden layer.

I'd love to hear from someone who has tried the SKORTIES on their bub. (same thing, but shorts instead of long pants).

We've got flongies and skorties and both are great. I've got some that are just 1 layer and they are fine. In saying that though, I've got a 22 month old who does about 10 little wees a day. So her nappies are never soaking wet.

Like kat - I like them because they are easier to wash & wear
