check the outside to see if its wet. If its damp, i'd change it. I'd consider a heavy wetter in flats to be more than 12 nappies a day. I wouldn't guage it on how long it takes to soak through a nappy as directly after a feed some babies will wee big time, same for after a nap and then sometimes they wont wee for hours.

So he's on forced holidays. You'd think we're in woop woop, but no. dh was getting top ADSL just 400m up the road at his old office. Long grr, should've made it a post. ![]() |

I've never been able to tell whethr Milly is a heavy wetter or not - she is in flats. I suspect she isn't. I have ended up just changing her every 2-3 hours or straight after a poo, or when she is antsy though having a full nappy, rather than checking if she is wet. I don't change after every wee.

I used to check all the time, just on the outside of the nappy, it just becomes a habit. Easy in summer as I never bothered with covers at home.
I change my babes every wee (& poop of course).

I change about every 2.5 hours or if my bubba grizzles as that often means she's wet. I use a mix of stuff, including bamboo terry. If I check and she's even slightly damp, I'll normally still just change her. It's not a silly question, btw. I wondered the same thing when I started out. You might find your bub wets differently throughout the day. My bub wets more in the night/early morning, but not in the evening - I figured this is related to my milk supply which is more plentiful at those times. Hope this helps

I always change after a feed and sometimes inbetween feeds if the nappy feels wet.
You can usually feel if the nappy is damp by giving it a little squeeze, if the material is still bouncy and easy to squeeze then it's dry enough if it feels heavy and full when you squeeze then it's time for a change. I hope this helps!
