maybe some pocket fitteds?
and i do like to soak my nappies when i handwash them (on holidays). i put them in a bucket of water. soak overnight. then wash in the shower the next morning. i was finding they would stink of wee if i didn't soak them (or stink of soap as i would overcompensate).

maybe some 100% bamboo terry flats? it's going to be hot (especially this time of year?) and you don't want something that's going to be sweaty. and during monsoonal season, it's gotta be quick to dry.

Maybe some fitteds / AIOs where the majority of the bulk is snap in or fold boosters so they won't take as long to dry?

terry flats or bamboo flat
when in India last year they were the only ones that dried quickly. Maybe a few fleece pockets. You need somthing that dries quick, hot and humid climate means nappies can mould really fast |

I went without a washing machine for 8 weeks earlier this year when we moved interstate, and I didn't use any of my MC, it was 100% flats. Wish I had've had a washerwoman! I wasn't convinced I could really 'clean' thicker nappies. I wouldn't really recommend anything with PUL in it to her, I know when I was in Cairns I tried to avoid it because the breathability is absolutely minimal and Indonesia is even more humid-the kids went cover-free most of the time, with a lightweight fleece to go out with.

You know, I used to think that bamboo fitteds were her most natural, obvious choice for us in the tropics, but to be honest, two things changed my mind
...one, was that my youngest baby would never sleep in a simple fitted nappy, and has to have a full stay dry lining against his skin, and two, our experience with how well lthat stay dry lining actually worked in the tropics. I was sceptical at first, to the extent that I never even tried pockets or AIOs with the poly lining for AGES...but when I did, I realised that my children's skin was never more clean nor calm as when they had the wetness drawn away from their skin. The wetness in the humidity is not just the wee, it's the sweat and the general baby/ toddler grime, and just in my experience alone, the poly stay dry lining serves its purpose exceptionally well in such a climate. And then microfibre for abosrbency is really handy in the humidity because it is quick drying, and can be tumble dried if necessary, and doesn't go mouldy before it makes it to the wash LOL! a combination of both, in whatever kind of nappy will, i beleivr, serve you well. Coverless will help to maximise the breathability. Wool's great too, for water resistance, because of its breathability, and low maintenance. Best of luck to your friend Jo
