Hi (yay! finally found time to post!)

I recommend you don't stress about picking any one brand or style and buy one or two of a number of different types. I bought one or two of a few different different types in the beginnig to decide what I liked best - but decided I liked having lots of differnt brands, styles and types.

Depending on time of day or what I am doing I have found that my favorite nappies change. I have also found that what fits best changes as my dd grows and changes shape. My dd is only 10mths old - but in the beginning I could not have coped without velcro pockets - but now I prefer side snapped fitted. But the pockets still come in handy for child care.

Cheers,
Tricia

yeah, like what others have suggested i think you should try different brands see what works for u and ur bub. I have few BBB hemp and it's so hard to put it on my 8 mths old as she wriggle a lot. It also depends where u live. i find it takes too long to dry some nappies when we dont get a lot of sun so i love pockets or anything tht i can take out n hang seperately.

Thankyou so much everybody for your wonderful advice. I have taken it all on board, even kept a little tally of recommendations and BBB rated well, along with Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delights. So I think I will grab a handful of each with some BB covers and take it from there. With my new Magic Alls that should be a good start. Hehe Mum is here to help out now and she went out today and bought a box of newborn disposals as she thinks I am procrastinating too long and the baby will arrive with no nappies to wear . Better put that order in now... I really don't wanna go down that path again. Thanks again everyone, I really really appreciate your support

We prefer my hemp terry BBH to the bamboo ones, except we use bamboo at night. I'm keen to try Mandy Macs (osfm hemp fitted which uses a snappi to close) and we don't like side snaps (skinny baby with skinny legs) or pockets (side-lying baby leaks in pockets).

What I'm trying to say is that if you can try a few different brands you'll do well. We've always used BBH and love them, and we've tried others - some we like, some didn't work for us. And there are so many out there that I'd like to try.

Have you seen Buy For Baby? You can buy pre-loved nappies there. Very fun!

oopsy, I think it may have been me that you refer to as complaining about snap in boosters on the BBH and I didn't mean to put off so let me clarify something:
My first nappies were BBH, I didn't try them first I just bought the largest pack I could (over $1000) 35 nappies in all!!! and I LOVE them! I've never had a leak or a stain or anything the only reason I was mentioning about the snap in bits was because my DH. I banned him from spraying poo off nappies because he sprays poo round the whole toilet, walls and everything, so he leaves it sitting in the toilet til I get home from work and can spray it. Of course by that time it's gone cold and hard and sticky and is a right bastard to get off!! so.... I was looking for a nappy without snap in bits to try and make spraying cold poo off a bit less awful.
All in all I would recommend BBH to anyone, a fantastic nappy that soaks up oodles of wee and is one sized so saves money. I have tried the magicalls but found that Olivia out wee's them and they give her a rash so I don't use them anymore. I have some fluffy mail on it's way (hopefully tomorrow) of some cute tooshies and itti bitti d'lish's and I can't wait!!!
Good luck with your research and so sorry to put you off!

A haha, thankyou so I much I needed a laugh... It's been a tough day!! I'd say my DH will be in the same boat as yours... I banned him from the laundry years ago! So it's well noted. I just put in the order (ooh exciting) 6 x BBB and 6 x Cute Tooshies Bamboo and 2 x BBH PUL covers... here we go!!
Thanks also ladies for the advice about buy for baby... had a peak there and registered but as yet not real sure about using second hand?? Will keep an eye on it though there's some good deals.

I love my BB Bamboo- esp as a night nappy! My toddler wears them as a night nappy and the other night they lasted 14 hours so I am very happy! Have heard lots of people say they have a little trouble with the magicalls in the newborn stage but I can't comment on that yet as I am a new convert
Have also heard good reports on the itti bitti d'lish as a day wear nappy- apparently trim and absorbent! Will be getting one soon to try!
My main newborn stash is terry and cotton fitteds with good quality covers. As they are changed a lot more often they don't need the absorbency so much I am told!

Good luck!
