Default OK next question

Thankyou everyone for your advice on converting me to cloth. It's been well received and I have ordered 6 x BBB, 2 x BBH PUL covers and 2 x Cute Tooshies Bamboo to add to my 6 BBH Magic Alls. Can't wait for my packages to arrive, it's so exciting. Mum is relieved I have FINALLY made a desicion That gets her off my back hehe.
Ok next question. I have a great big laundry and have it set up as my change area, it works really well as the laundry tub is right beside the change mat and I have shelves etc.. Anyway, do I need a 'Little Squirt' or can I just rinse poos down the laundry tub? Newborns are pretty loose anyway. Or is this disgusting and against the rules? I want to make it as easy as possible so I follow through with this new way of nappying, the toilet is right next door to the laundry. So what's the census? Little Squirt or Not?

Before I got a LS I would rinse in a bucket and tip down the toilet, but still got some AWFUL stains (might be that my DD has very stainworthy poop?). I love my LS even for newborn poop. I would say to try to get one or if your partner is handy get him to make one. I LURVE mine....

We don't have one, just haven't got around to convincing DH that we need one. Have been rinsing in bucket which is ok but starting to become a pain. A friend has one and every time I visit I see it and am jealous because she raves about it. Think during the GDUNH will definetely be getting one.

My Little Squirt is one of the best things ever purchased!! Before that I was rinising down the laundry sink but was a bit hard getting the bits stuck on off!!
Newborn BF Poo might be ok, but you might want one once the get to solids or formula!!
I got mine on ebay for $65.00, brand new, buy it now. I think the shop was everything for baby or something.

i dont have or want a LS
nb poo gets drypailed as is - then goes straight in the machine on a prerinse.
once they are on solids i scrape into the loo with an old hard plastic spoon kept in the laundry then drypail until washing.
i only rinse the actual nappy once i have an older toddler (2-3years) and then its only ultra smelly night wee's (to protect fabrics) and ultra smelly runny poos
we rarely get staining and nothing that the sun wont shift
your laundry setup sounds great!
oh and when i do rinse a foul sloppy pooey nappy from ms 3 yo - i use the laundry sink. im pretty sure the laundry pipes are connected to the toilet next door. spose you could ask a plumber if you wanted to know for sure?

I didnt have a LS with my 1st and used to scrape in loo then rinse in laundry tub and it was gross when bits got stuck in the drain hole . I definatley loved having a LS with Delilah - way easier and much less gross!

Nah, I never bothered, too expensive for me, I bought nappies instead!
I just rinsed them down the laundry sink, solid ones rolled into the toilet or got scrapped off.

laundry sink is ok to rinse poo. I don't have a LS and never had one. won't be getting one this time either, since I've managed without one so far. I find the hot water in the laundry tub much better for "melting" those sticky poos off, than cold water is anyway.

I bought a little quirt before DS was born and we do use it, however I would say not to worry about it whilst building your stash, I think that you can use a spatula like Joh said if you need to but I didn't bother with NB poo, went straight in the washing machine on a pre-rince. The only poo that you really need to 'pre-rince' imo is ones that will get 'stuck' in your washing machine (like sultana's - from experienced *VOMIT*)

Edited to add stuff:

Sorry, on the original question - soiled newborn nappies are reasonably harmless if your baby is 100% breast fed. In my case until DS3 started solids we just dry pailed, wholus bolus and just washed regularly. There is IMO very little use in a LS until solid food is involved.

I had a LS at our last house - decided as much as it was practical it was just as easy to use flushable liners so I left it there when we sold.
