Default Cloth Wipes

I am also considering using cloth wipes with our cloth nappies when we get started but I am just wondering how many you need. Would filling up an old wipes container be enough/too much? Also, are there any brands you would recomend? I like the look of the Itti Bitti ones at the moment.

I would get about 2 dozen, cause you sometimes need more than one wipe per change and always good to have a few spare for big messes And you only want to have to wash them when you wash your nappies too. But maybe start out with a dozen and see if you need more then. I like having heaps cause I have 2 in cloth, wash pretty much every day and I can always just make my own if I want more

Forgot to add that to keep in mind that we will have at least 2 in nappies as well so I am guessing that would need more?

I got some Bumgenius ones from Nurture Nappies and they are awesome. I first tried the Baby Beehinds but didnt like them that much and was just using old facecloths. The BG ones from Nurture Nappies are soo soft and grippy.
I have wash every 2 days and have 16 which is plenty I have found. I have some face cloths as back ups if needed too.

Ordinary face washers work really well and are a nice cheap option.

I have some of the itti bitti ones and they are great for big messes.

I have way too many but I like the variety. Some are just flannel for gentle cleaning, some are stretch terry, vekour etc. Good to have smooth ones and grippy ones. Different sizes too.

As for how many you need: How often will you be washing your nappies (I wash them with my nappies). So you need 1 or 2 each change

I am starting to think about making my own now. I think I might grab a couple of different brands and fabric types to check out what I like best then grab some fabric and sew some up. Would that be a cheaper option do you think? I feel brave enough to try to sew wipe since they are pretty simple.

Unless you just want to go with cheapy face washers which are very economical you could easily make your own for sure.

Even use things around the house...old terry flats, old flannel pjs, towels etc

That's what I would do, try a couple of different ones out and see what you like best and make your own. But those itti ones look pretty lush.

I would recommend having at least 2-3 wipes containers worth (the containers don't fit anywhere near as many cloth as disposable wipes, so it is not as many as it sounds). Then you can make more if you need. I use 1 wipe for a wee change, but usually 4 for a poo change- so it depends on how many poo's a day I guess?! (one of my toddlers is a poo machine).

And I love the Itti ones- also the Swaddlebees velour ones and the Bumgenious ones (they are the really thin ones right? great for travel packs!)

I made up my own, around thirty, using different fabrics around the house (old sheets, thin baby towel, blanket). I made one side rough and the other soft, they have been great. Very easy and they have worn well. We kept trying different combos until we found what worked best for us. I'm glad disposable wipes are a thing of the past now, although DH prefers disposable wipes.

We use the foam solution from the Bubblebubs website which we love, very easy to dispense and the boys love squirting it onto each other.

I hope you enjoy your cloth wipes journey, it was certainly a rewarding project!
