Thankyou, sometimes its really great to hear that. It gets so frustrating at times with the feeding pattern or should i say non feeding pattern. The midwives i had didnt educate me much at all, mainly just to get bubby attached.

I think it's hard for someone to educate you on breastfeeding because every bubs is different. I say just go with the flow and take your bubs lead, she knows what she needs.

About the smelly nappies, if you have just switched to cloth from throw away nappies you will notice a difference as there are no chemicals masking the urine smell.

Regarding cradle cap - I've found that putting sorbelene cream on bub's head and leaving it on for 10 minutes or so and then washing it off with baby shampoo etc gets most of it off. I also put olive oil in her hair and leave it in and then wash it out too. That can be left on for longer. I've heard using bi carb and making it into a paste works too but I'm a bit hesitant to try it in case it burns....a spot test should be done first.

About the nappies - my nappies smell too, especially the overnight ones. I think it's just something that can't really be helped. Giving them a good wash and a strip wash every so often helps too. Do a search on "strip wash" for more info. Hanging them in the sun can help too. I'm just used to the smell now and i just tell myself cloth is better even if they sometimes smell lol.

Breastfeeding - It's true about the growth spurts. Mikinley went through this too and still does. It usually settles after a few days. I found that somedays she hardly wanted any milk and somedays she wanted more. I kept to a pattern too usually, which I found helped - Feed her as soon as she woke up, whenever she woke up. I didn't try to extend the time between feeds - I just followed her lead. If I didn't feed her as soon as she woke up I found she was so hungry when I fed her that it was like she wasn't satisfied.
Oh and it gets so much easier!

Goodluck with it all, and sorry if I repeated other people's comments. I only had a quick read of them.

Kai had his first tooth pop through a week before he turned 4 months so 14 weeks may not be too early, just it is earlier than most babies start teething.

Also, with the cradle cap we found that olive oil worked better than the 'medicated' stuff that we had and has to be better for their skin, especially since it says on the box to make sure you only get the stuff on the cradle cap and not on the skin.
