Default Hemp or bamboo

I want to make some more fitted nappies for my toddler and start a stash for my little one on the way, but am undecided whether to use hemp or bamboo.

What do you gals think is better?

More absorbent?
Less smelly?
More heavy duty/long lasting?
Dries quicker?

Thanks! Eva :o)

I think it's:

Less smelly? Bamboo
More heavy duty/long lasting? Hemp
Dries quicker? Hemp

Doesn't help much does it?!

pretty much what kirrily said!
a lot of it comes down to personal preference.
hemp is cheaper than bamboo too.
maybe make some of each? hemp is fine for a new baby, I'd be inclined to use bamboo for a toddler, as they're more prone to smelly wee.

The other way do to it and save a little is to just make your soakers/inserts out of hemp/bamboo
or do the main layers of the nappy from hemp and bamboo for the lay in/stitch in/snap in etc soaker or as a fitted pocket, and use the bamboo as an insert.

So drying time is of course the fabric (takes longer to dry = holds more liquid)
but also how many layers sewn together, the way the nappy is put together.

Ditto to Kirrily, I would definitely go for bamboo but it is still a personal preference. I have a fair few nappies in both, and the hemp smell was annoying. Not everyone has problems with that though.

Also bamboo is softer!

A combination here
Bamboo for nap time and night time and hemp for general day time. though more are coming out with bambo standard in nappies and i do prefer them cos they really dont get as whiffy. i love my bamboo at night with both kids
