Default Favourite Newborn Nappies

I am expecting my first bub in August and am currently busy putting together a little stash of MCN nappies to try. I will work out from using these what works and doesn't work for me and go from there as bubs gets bigger.

Some of the nappies I have bought just don't look like they will fit a newborn well, which is fine because eventually bubs will grow in to them and I will be able to try them out then.

In the meantime there just seems to be so many differing opinions on newborn nappying. I don't really want to go down the flanny flats path, preferring the MCN world, but am not against it - but what covers are the best for newborns? I have some Small covers but they just look massive for a newborn!!

So my question is what are your favourite newborn nappies? If you prefer flats what are your favourite covers?

I love my prefolds. I used flanny flats in hospital and for a little while at home, but the prefolds were much easier.

I used NB and small Bummis covers. I have heard that covers with gussets are good, but didn't get around to getting any.

From my extensive pouring over NB nappy threads I have found that Bubblebubs are very popular....Thirsties Covers are highly recommended.
CK Honeyboys are also a fave and CK Auriels.

BamBams (from Bubblebubs) are a popular snappiable fitted (I have some and they are so soft)

I havent used any of these things yet but I have got some ready here for September

I have Kissaluvs, raphaels, tots bots, lots of home made snappiable fitteds....I have bubblebubs aios, honeyboys, auriels...

Tots bots cover, bambino mio covers and lots of fleece covers.

I might do a stash thread now actually

I have mainly used Bubblebub Bam Bams with Tots Bots covers. This has worked really well for us.

fav was prob ummmm,

are we talking the ones that looked the best or worked the best?

the ones that looked the best were not the best coz there wasnt enough fabric in them.

so i liked OSFM like cute tooshies or mandy macs.

i have not tried bambams but i am sure i would have loved them by the sound of it as i made my own that are similar before i heard about them.

This is what I tried on Molly when she was small:

Nappies:
Totsbots bamboozles sz1 - great fit on a nb and fit for ages. I had snappiable which they dont make anymore. Have a sz2 velcro and am not wild about the velcro - try the snaps.
Poppets place newborn flannelette - friends have these - only $8 and a great fit, need an extra booster. On ozebaby.
Mostly used homemade snappiable fitteds from terry, hemp, bamboo etc. Tried some with velcro but didnt like this on a little belly.
Used snappiable prefolds too for the first few months and they worked well, particularly under the bummis covers.

Covers:
bubba j pul covers - loved these in all sizes
Bummis - great
tots bots pul - found the velcro didnt sit closed that well and caught on clothing.
motherease - not our fav, prefered bummis
babybeehinds - great value and good colours but I think the edge binding leaks a little more than others if left to get wet.

Too many decisions isnt there!

I loved thirsties from Cotton bottom for PUL covers

I loved wool covers from Lotus nappies and Loveybums. Few weeks into it i went to BBH wool.

Fleece is a good option as well coz it washes well.

Poppets place and also Whizz Kids were great and inexpensive, need boosting tho- as do most NB nappies.

one of the reasons that people go for flats often is coz bubs need changing so much and they grow so quick that its not worth getting NB specific nappies (poppets and WK are on the larger side of NB) My bub was fitting into OSFM at 2 weeks old.

make sure you get mini boosters too- they are a lifesaver here!
