I have a heap made from old flanelette sheets (two layers overlocked together), some made from old towels and also some with one side flanelette, one side terry towelling (old towels!). Size varies a little, but mainly around 20x20cm. When DD was nb I had the big Huggies wipes box (like a lot of others - but any container the right size would do) and used to wet a few and store them folded in half in that. If she ever got a bit red (happened once or twice) I'd soak the wipes in chamomile tea instead of wetting with water and then wring them out a bit and store in huggies wipes box. As others do, dry-pail them with the nappy when you take that off. As DD got older and I used less wipes (less poo and/or less nappy changes) I used to just keep the dry ones in the bathroom and wet one on my way to change the nappy. If I went out I'd put some pre-wet ones in a zip-lock bag. Then later when DD always had a water bottle I'd just take dry ones with me. I think I had around 40 wipes with DD, but this time I'll have extra because I will use them for myself (wee only!) and for DD again (she's now TTd) seeing as we'll have the nappy bucket back in operation (I find wiping her after poo much easier with wet wipes than dry toilet paper, and at the moment I use the flushable Wiggles wipes for her - once they go I won't buy more, we'll go back to cloth).

My girl has had formed poo since birth and on the verge of constipation (and even had some really bad sessions) since she started solids. Sometimes I haven't even had to wipe her bottom at all. Other times, I've used the nappy and other times I've used a tissue with sorbolene on it and thrown it in the toilet with the poo. When I've been out, I've used flushable wipes (if needed). I haven't needed liners (except on the odd occasion when she's had a bit of nappy rash and I've used some cream). So it's all a bit new to me.

I actually had a couple of wipes that someone had sent me and I used them today and I was amazed at how effective they were! I sprayed a bit of water on (nice to know the sorbolene option is still a goer) and then put it in the nappy which was thrown in the bucket.

I guess I need to find a suitable container to keep the dry ones in. But still trying to work out what I would do when I go out. Do ppl normally take them out wet? Or take a spray bottle?

Who knows - I might just get my cloth wipe system up and running and then we go back to solid stools again

Thanks heaps for all your hints and tips

I keep them dry in a basket next to the changetable and just rinse one in warm water before each nappy change.

I tried solutions for a while and also storing water next to the change table, but my baby is lucky enough not to get rash and I can't imagine being wiped with cold water is particularly pleasant - so I just rinse at each change. That way I'm always using warm water - definitely the best wipes solution IMO.

I'm a mean horrible Mum - I don't use warm water We have a container of water by the change table with a drop of Gaia bath gel in and dip the wipes in. I make up a new batch each morning for the day (ok it starts off warm - seriously Laila doesn't flinch).

When we go out I use the Bubblebubs foamy wipes wash. Find it really convenient and I just take my dry wipes in a little zippered pencil case type bag.

I find they clean up the poos SO much better than the disposable ones.
I keep mine in a basket on the change table shelf, and I keep a spray bottle of plain water beside it. I just spray the wipe as I am cleaning his bum, then throw in the nappy bucket to be washed with all the nappys.
You could add something to the water if you wanted to-oil or one of the 'cleanser' products out there, but I have found the plain water best (and cheapest) for me.
I use a mix of wipes from WAHM. I used face cloths first, but now I have enough from WAHM that I just use those.
Good Luck.
Its easy and works much better.
For going out, I take a dry one, just wet under the tap in the mothers room and chuck in the wet bag with the nappy.

I have a little bottle of water in the nappy bag and carry dry ones, then when needed wet the wipe and away I go.

Thanks for explaining why you haven't use them.

Now I'm interested I wipe Brock's bottom (and Harry's when he was younger) every time I change him, even if it's only wee. Does anyone else wipe every time or only when there's poo?

I just use boring old facewashers although I am getting more and more attracted to the lovely bamboo fleece ones I am seeing on different websites. How nice must they feel?
