Default Convert me!

I have not really had to think about it before. My DD2's poos have been so easy to clean up - til now. I really want to use cloth wipes but just can't get started! Tell me exactly what you do with cloth wipes, how big, how many, rinse? etc.....

Thanks

Hey Cas! I will send you a couple with your nappies. I like mine 20 x 20cm and use velour/sherpa ones just overlocked. Love them

I couldn't imagine using cloth nappies and not using cloth wipes, they are so easy. I either use wipes I get from WAHMs with nappies or just baby face washer. When I'm cleaning Brock I just put them inside the nappy and then throw them in the bucket. I usually only need to use 1 or 2 at the most where when I was using dispos wipes I was using so many more.

That's what I need to know: where you store them, how you use them, what you do afterwards. I need specifics....I can't get my head around the logistics!!

I'd love a couple of yours Kelly And I imagine I'll make oodles out of any leftover fabric I have from sewing.

I liked large face washers - the flannel kinds (I bought a whole heap at the op shops). What I did was have a bottle of water (the kind that you can squirt with) nearby. I would squirt a couple of face washers with the water, then use the nappy to get the bulk of the poo off. Then wipe with cloth wipe and throw it straight in the nappy bucket or the PUL nappy bag.

Good luck with the change! I actually found changing to face washers harder to do (mentally) than converting to cloth nappies and cloth pads!

Oh and I would just put them all in an old huggies wipe box (when they were clean).

I store mine in a basket when they are dry but then when I wet them (I just use water) I out them in an old Huggies wipes container.

You use them just like any other wipe, put in hand, wipe baby.

When I've finished I put them inside the nappy and then throw the lot into the bucket and when it's washing time in the machine with the nappies and then hung out to dry. Although I do know some people who don't dry them but put them back into use when wet after washing.

To be honest I can't understand why you haven't used them yet, can I ask what has stopped you???? (Not wanting to be rude, I'm use curious if you use cloth nappies why not cloth wipes??)

I use sigle sided terry ones I buy from bigW they come in packs of about 12 I think from the baby section and they have solid colours and spots. We store them dry and have a small container of water that we wet before use on the change table. I little squirt them if they are poo-y when I do the nappy otherwise just chuck them in the bucket with the nappies, wash them all together then fold and reuse the next time. Really easy to use and I found them to be so much more effective than disposable ones... although saying that it has been over a year and a half since I used disposable wipes.

I usually just use 1 wipe, cause mine are quite thick, sometimes 2 if its really messy, then just throw in the nappy bucket with the dirty nappies and wash with the nappies. Really easy and no extra time etc. I just wet them with water under the tap (warm water atm cause its so cold).

And yep, great way to use up left over fabric. They can be whatever size you like, and basically use whatever fabric you like too.

Also agree that you use less cloth wipes than you would with disposables, and also saves money too. I just chuck all mine in a basket, some people like to store them in a huggies container, just fold in half and they fit perfectly.

Any other questions, you can buzz me on msn tomorrow

I have a variety of odds and ends, some made myself, a bunch of baby washcloths, some from WAHMs.

I keep them in a basket next to the other changing stuff. I have a pump pack of sorbolene cream and use that instead of messing around with water Then they just go in the nappy bucket and then the wash with the nappies.
