Talking How many more?

Hi there,

I am pondering how many more nappies I need and what to get,

I now have the following nappies:

4 Thirsties Fitteds
1 GK Anytimes
2 GK Minkytimes
1 GK Funtimes
6 BBH Magic Alls (old style)
6 PUL Covers

About 12 terry flats and 12 prefolds which I dont really use because they are too much of a PIA!

I had a few smaller nappies covers etc but he has now grown out of these

So I am thinking how many more do I need? I had hoped what I had would be enough to go full time but it's not, I just cant wash and dry fast enough to make that happen atm!

Suggestions please!

Somebody correct me if I am wrong here but I think that 24 is a full time stash??? I would probably go another 6 Fitted nappies - OSFM for better economy - and then see how you go.

Some Good OSFM's are Cute Tooshies and Baby Beehinds. There are plently more but I can not think of them now

24 nappies is what they recommend but I don't think that's enough in cooler weather and for small babies (they wee and poo A LOT). 14 nappies of yours aren't going to be enough that's for sure

If money isn't a problem, I'll be getting more variety.

Whizz Kidz side snaps, Mandy Macs, Bumgenius AIOs, Blueberry OSFM?

I'd be getting one of each to see if they work. Maybe try getting second handed nappies on Buy For Baby if you don't want to spend heaps Do you have any preferences? Pockets, AIOs, or fitteds?

For fitteds, I love Whizz Kidz, Tots Bots, Very Baby. For pockets I love Blueberry & GK. For AIOs I love Cherub's Kiss Honeyboy, Bubblebubs, itti bitti.

There are plenty more but I think this should give you some ideas. Remember that not all nappies suit every baby, so I suggest getting one of each different brand to see if they suit your bub

Have fun shopping!

Id go pockets or something fast drying - you could use your prefolds as stuffers too. How long can your stash take you now? You can work out how many more you need by calculating how long the amount you have now last and then see how many more youd need to go as long you want them too.

The 'old' system used to be 3 dozen nappies for babies. At least that's what my midwife friend informed me I think most people have between 20 and 30 MCNs depending on their bub and their wash routine

Yeah, at least 24, but 30 is better for wear and tear on nappies iykwim.

Flats aren't that scary! You can just pad fold them (or the prefolds) into a well fitting cover. Super easy!

Yep...fold the prefold in thirds and lie them in a good fitted cover with gussets (I loved Bambino Mio) If you change often, you can just switch between two covers only changing the prefold if the cover's not soiled. Hey presto, another dozen easy, reliable and relatively quick drying nappies :o)

I agree! I think flats with a booster are great for new borns because they dry so quickly - you just need a huge booster collection like I have .

Thankyou all so much for your responses!

I bought a bakers dozen of large Bitt D'lish so that will take me up too 27 which should be enough IMO.

I used pre folds/ flats with PUL covers for the first 4/5 months but DS is one now and so increadibly wriggly its a nightmare to get anything on him!

They are the snap in ones so they should dry fairly fast here in QLD!
