I have a dozen flats (cotton terry) and I couldnt live without them. I dont use them as nappies though. I use them for feeding/burping and on the change table. Also when he is on a blanket on the floor I pop one under his head so I dont get spew all over the blankets.
Sound like you have plenty of nappies though

FJ, the only reason i used flats was b/c mcn were too big. I then got bamboo prefolds and stopped using the flats. The prefolds were trim but more absorbent. i think with your prefolds you'll be fine.......

There is a good brand to buy but I cant remember what it is
Sorry. I just bought the cheap ones cause I wasn't expecting them to have to last through multiple childrens nappy needs iykwim. The cheap ones would be fine for a few months and then as burp cloths.I would be hesitant to spend too much as I do think that you have enough nappies/prefolds to last you. Just thought it might be nice to have them as back up if you need them.

with 30 prefolds I doubt you'll need flats. What can a flat do that a prefold can't?
I did the first 8+ weeks with 30 flats (and no mcn) and that was plenty of nappies. I really don't think that you'll need any more nappies than what you've already got.

Actually flats are our workhorse nappies at home, they will fit any baby forever and dry in any conditions! But apart from that they are used for everything - spew cloths, floor cleaners, lap covers, car blankies, sun shades, padding to lie on, playing peekaboo, curtains for hiding games - our house would grind to a halt without flats. Plus we live in lots of different houses throughout the year, so we have a small stash in our city house and the Grandparents houses, means we don't have to carry nappies when we travel. We just have the cheap supermarket brands.

And even better yet, my dad is still using our flannel nappies 25 years later as polishing clothes for the car. he was so excited when I said I was using cloth, because he says his car cloths need updating!!!
