So.. I am new to the whole MCN thing and am really really REALLY happy with the Itti Bitti's. As DD is only 4 months, we can also get away with using them for night time although I am sure this will change in the future.
I do have some BG's and Baby Beehinds but haven't even gotten around to using them yet as I just can't get off the D'Lish track Mind you, I only started using MCN's 10 days ago and I don't know if or when my fascination with the D'Lish will pass. So my question is.. should I stock up on some more brands and try them or just get some more Itti Bitti's??TIA

are all three brands you have bought, in the AIO style?
with baby beehinds, you might have their fitteds, their AIO pockets with bum genius, you might have their OSFA pockets, or the sized AIO's with the itti bitti, i am guessing you have either the dlish aio or the PUL aio, but they sell fitteds too. So you have worked out, in ten days, you like front snap, trim fitting, low rise, minky nappies, with quick dry snap in inserts. That is what i'm guessing. Unless you got the sewn in itti bitti AIO's. you could also consider - is the size of my stash enough that laundry is not a problem (i assume it is, if you haven't used your other nappies) - is my bub at the start or end of the weight range, for the size of IB currently in If in the smalls, i think they go up to 6.5kg- how close is your bub to that? That will help you decide what size to get. - you could also go looking for other brand "front snap, trim fitting, low rise, minky nappies with the snap in inserts for quick drying". Often when you go on a hunt like that, you find something that meets MOST of the criteria, but rarely something that meets ALL the criteria, so decide on what rocks your world MOST about MCN right now. What is most critical to you - again, that will guide you. Babies shape does change as they grow. THis is what stopped me buying a gazillion of one type or brand, no matter how well they worked for us at a particular stage. There are gamblers in this world, and i'm not one of them! Ittis seem reasonably easy to buy these days, which is great, you don't have the pressure of having to buy them before they disappear. I remember when you used to have to be a hyena to score one! and stockings sold out in a nano-second! I found the itti bitti boo (fitted nappy) a good night nappy for the small bub too (with a waterproof cover over the top). Congrats on your first ten days in MCN - well your bubs!!

I do understand what you are saying about body shape changing which is why I think I am stalling on buying more of the D'Lish. And my stash is so small at the moment which is why I just have to buy some more At the moment, I am having to wash them each night which I really want to get out of the habit of doing and only have to wash every second or third day. When I started on this adventure, I honestly didn't realise there were so many sorts of nappies out there. Thanks for you help.. it has certainly given me some food for thought. So now I am on the hunt for some more to try

"With the BG's, I have the sized AIO's and the Baby Beehinds are fitted AIO's . . . "
Aussie Frog - just to clarify and help you with jargon, when you say you have "baby beehinds are fitted AIO's", you might mean that you actually have SIZED AIO's. a fitted is a nappy entirely made out of absorbent fabric *used in combination with a cover* an AIO is a nappy with a waterproof outer *you don't use a cover with it* so a "fitted AIO" is a contradiction (to the best of my knowledge) Fitted - in women's clothing - means an item is tailored to your shape Fitted - in MCN - means a nappy is made entirely of absorbent fabric and needs a waterproof cover. MCN jargon is tricky when you first start. The reason i am explaining it, is not to nitpit you, but to help you see the difference, so that when you are surfing MCN shops online, you will find searching for what you are after, a bit easier. From your existing stash, you have SIZED AIO and OSFA AIO. About having to wash every day, a suggestion for you. THe bumgenius and baby beehinds you are currently not using, you could start using those, maybe at home only until you get used to them. That would stretch out your washing time. THere are quite a few brands that do a size (called a number of different things) in the weight range 7 - 15/16kg. In some brands, this is considered a "large" or a "size 2". So you have three different brands of AIO's at present. Three brands to try and get used to. Each brand is made differently, and shaped differently, so once using all three, you're bound to notice the differences. You might develop preferences, e.g which brand you'll rely on for the car nappy, the night nappy, the workhorse day nappy, which dries quickest, which is most thirsty, which has best containment, which suits your bub's shape the best. The stuff you only find out by trial and error. ANd sometimes, things that don't quite suit right now, may suit better in a while e.g when bub's is taller for example - they're all so different. Your medium itti bittis are going to fit for ages if your bub is 6+kg now, cos they run from 6 - 12kg - so you're going to get great usage out of those - bearing in mind, the shape change thang. SOmetimes people find their baby needs one size, starts crawling and walking, and instead of needing the NEXT size up, may STAY in the same size, cos the exercise from the mobility, slims the bubs down, so they stay in the weight range. it's a pretty inexact science, cos no-one can predict how our bubs will grow. THis was very hard for me to come to terms with in the beginning - as someone who previously, was used to planning everything!!! I expected my bub to put on weight expediently, i was unprepared for the "plateau" effect that happened when she became mobile and those pudgy thighs (that i had grown to love) suddenly vanished. the nb and small sizes were a short phase the medium phase seems to be going on forever! i wonder if we will even GET to the large stage before toilet training LOL we learn as we go hope that helps

Thanks so much for that info. I think I have looked at that many nappies lately I getting myself all confused
![]() I know I should start using the BB's and the BG's but the D'Lish just look soooooo damn cute on her little butt but I will start using them.I also just went and bought 2 Berry Plush with the snap in inserts as I want to try a side snap as well. Is it worth getting any fitted with covers?? Or should I just stick to AIO's or AI2's?? I am trying to make it easy on DH by using the AIO's but wouldn't you know it.. the first nappy change he did since I started using the MCN's, he went and grabbed one of the left over disposables

She is a very long bubba and we are growing out of the rise in Mediums (plus her legs are CHUNKY). I was really hoping my Mediums were going to last me lots longer . I should have guessed though I suppose - she was in Mediums way before the specified weight range too.It really does depend a lot on shape, as bilbylove said ![]() My only advice would be not to buy a heap of one sort until you have tried the fit. Have fun shopping. It never ends you know. You can never have enough

I agree with what others have been saying, don't go buying a heap of one type because your bubba will change and so will you! When I first started out I wasn't really into fitteds and had mainly AIOs and a few pockets, but now I love my fitteds and want more and am so glad that I have my pockets as they dry so super fast. So you never know - your fascination with ittis may pass (through propably not!!).

i can see a place for all the types of nappies. For different situations. I don't think there are many "shoulds" in MCN - if AIO's are rocking your world, why fix what ain't broke. It all depends on what you would like to do and try. ANd sometimes i buy a certain type of MCN based on what is going on for my bub at the time. e.g we used MCN with synthetic inners happily for 12 months, then boom, my dd suddenly started rashing up to synthetic inners. So my new MCN purchases from then on, were all MCN with natural fibre inners - to help her skin. I might not have bought that sort, were it not for her skin reaction. I might not have gotten into side snappers, had i not had a bub who first had chicken legs, then chubby legs - based on advice from people online who told me sidesnaps would help the MCN fit her better - and it did - so we kept on buying sidesnappers. With a few brand exceptions, most SS fit her great. so it's not that you SHOULD or SHOULDNT buy fitteds and covers, it depends on what you would like to do. SOme people love fitteds esp in summer, as they have their baby in just a fitted e.g around home, and don't bother with a waterproof cover. I love fitteds for putting under woollies (e.g longies, shorties and soakers). Some people buy the fitteds and covers (esp for the very young bubs) as that is the combo that keeps in the runny explosive poo the best for them. So it all really depends on you and your bub. my dh started out not at ll into it, just kinda going along with it cos i was so keen, and now, without me being in the room, happily changes our bub into a fitted and longies. So their attitude can change. I'm sure many people around me, were expecting me to get sick of MCN and go buy sposies, the doubters, but the comments have stopped. I know what i'm doing now, and just get on with it. It's harder in the beginning i think, when you are learnign yourself and unsure when some situations crop up (that's when you hop online and ask for help!).
