Microfleece doesn't absorb at all. It's used as a liner to wick moisture away from baby's skin.

I think you mean microfibre? as its very absorbant. I'd rather bamboo though, I hate the feel of microfibre.

yeah the feel of microfibre is not great, but it dries a stack faster. I do find though that microfibre needs to be used with at least 2 layers of another absorbant material.

Yes, you're right I meant microfibre, thanks.

So it's as absorbant as bamboo? But dries faster? But it feels terrible? So if it's in a pocket it wouldn't matter...

microfibre is prone to compression leaks, bamboo and hemp aren't. it might be very absorbent but if it gets too wet it acts like a sponge and any pressure on it will squeeze the moisture out. You might find in a pocket that this will mean the waterproof outer can get wet - wicking - if the absorbent stuffer gets too wet. I find it much more effective in conjunction with something else - usually hemp or bamboo. On drying time, depends on how many layers of microfibre IME. it can take as long to dry if there are more layers of it than of say, bamboo.

What Kim said
we found with pockets we had compression leaks a lot - it needed a ... 'stopper' layer of hemp or bamboo to stem the compression leaks somewhat, if that makes sense, folding end to end

Drying time also as Kim said - you can combat this by having a longer booster that you fold in half, so a double long one of two layers that you fold in half to make four layers
you can have the twice or three times as wide, but single length ones, that you again fold but this time from edge to edge.

You can also do your boosters say, as is two layers, then stitch two of them together but only a line of stitching across one end... so that they 'flip' out (like a mobile lol) to dry when hanging.

Of course bamboo more absorbent than hemp, flip side is if it holds more it takes longer to dry so you have to weigh it up. Other choice is a hemp/bamboo combo insert if you're talking for pocket nappy. Hemp has been around longer here as a nappy fabric, than bamboo but people have issues with either depending on what it is - most people seem fairly happy with both but still have their preference.
There was a poll once about which fabric hemp/bamboo... will see if can find

eta
Hemp or bamboo
Bamboo, hemp or cotton???
http://www.nappycino.com.au/forum/se...o-vs-hemp.html

there's two polls in there so should help you a bit in deciding - good luck!

one is synthetic
one is natural

what aspect do you want to know about?

Hemp and bamboo have anti-bacterial properties to them

i found microfibre useful in the early stages, when my bub was tiny and didn't wee much. Haven't touched it since she was about 8 months old.

I like using a combo. I find that microfibre is very quick at absorbing but has compression leaks, while hemp or bamboo are better for long term but take a little while to absorb. So I put microfibre around my hemp in pockets and get the best of both worlds. It grabs the wee straight away and allows the hemp time to absorb.

Thanks for all your answers! I have a better idea now and I think I might just stick to some hemp and mostly bambo for now.
