Hi and congrats on your pregnancy, you have come to the right place for help, it can be really overwhelming at first all the info on MCNs but there are so many lovely ladies here who can answer almost any question you have.
Wool covers are brilliant for night use once they have been lanolinised(not as scary as it sounds) and they are not like the ones that big w has. Think more along the lines of knitted shorts or pants, though you can gets ones that just cover the nappy.
ETA- If you enjoy sewing you could have a go at making your own prefolds, there are several online sights here in Aus that sell the fabric you would need, and its fun watching a project come together

Hi you found us.

I haven't read anything about those prefolds or the business, but shipping to australia is going to be the killer I think. I have read they are very heavy especially when unwashed.

As I posted on DS, check out these ones Prefolds: Unbleached Cotton Prefolds - Unbleached Cotton Prefolds=

Do you have an overlocker??

The BG pockets come with microfibre inserts I believe. If you plan on using cotton prefolds most of the time then I would suggest making some booster out of bamboo to use with the prefolds.
I really like Bamboo fleece from Snaps Australia & if you can sew prefolds, I would make some out of Double sided Bamboo terry from Bamboo fabrics Store (Australia)

Fitted nappies need a separate cover to keep outer clothes dry
AIO's have everything built in, either the outer layer or a hidden layer is waterproof.

Baby beehinds are great nappies, the OSFM will take you right through from newborn to toilet training.
Brands I think are a personal choice, a nappy that works great on one baby may not suit another, the one nappy I couldn't live without? I guess that would be my Malden mills night pockets.

Baby Beehinds are an excellent choice. My DS1 is 3 in November this year and just fits on the last set of snaps.

We used bumgenious and they are my favourite nappy so far.

Im going to try a few different ones this time though.

I cant really help with the prefolds.

Wool covers can be bought at most of the MCN websites They are meant to be the most waterproof. We did use a fitted and wool cover overnight for a while, it worked well

But most of the time, we just put extra boosting into the pocket nappies but she wasnt a really heavy wetter till she got bigger, thats when I used the Very Baby Simply nights nappy and Disana Wool cover Hope that helped. You only need a cover over fitteds and prefolds/flats. Pocket nappies and AIOs dont need covers.

I was as confused as you were when I first started all this too

It does get much less confusing once you get your hands on a few nappies to look at and see how they'll work . Gives you a chance to see the difference between fitteds, pockets and AIO's for example.

As someone else said, what works on one baby might not work on another so a great idea is to keep it really simple at first then slowly build your collection as you find nappies you like using and fit your bub well.

For my next bub, I'm planning on using prefolds in a well fitting cover from newborn. They're economical, quick drying, reliable and the prefolds will be useful for years once they're no longer covering a bottom! The prefolds I have that I'll use again next time are WHAM made, hemp fleece and flannel...super trim yet quite absorbant. I'd like some bamboo ones next time too. I used them in Bambino Mio covers.

Are you in Australia? If you buy here, all that OS postage money can be spent on more MCN or sewing supplies . Maybe try to find some Nappycino members who live near you and have a look at a few nappies, or buy a trial pack that many of the bigger online stores have or buy a range of second-hand ones until you find what you like.

I have quite a few different brands and styles of nappies & covers and have only found one brand I'm not a fan of...not bad considering I had no idea what I was doing when I started

Ahhh, stash building is such fun!! Once you get started, it will all become a whole lot clearer!!

Yes i live near brownsplains QLD...

Thanx ladies im just stressing coz im due in 13 weeks ahhh and i need too find nappies for my baby boy due then and find ones for my daughter who is 16mths too start on... well hoping my bbumgenius come in mail today... or soon...

On an older baby!! do prefolds still work ok?? i really wanna use prefolds on my newborn for the main party and i was looking at thirsties cover (if i get from US) but if i can find some affordable prefolds like the ones i was told bout earlier i may get them.. just i really think ill need 2 dozen.. of newborn, infant and premium. coz DD still wets alot and im sure this baby will too..

I may look at some trial pack, im thinking beehinds may be a good option i have heard good reviews.. maybe ill buy one too begin with and see.. i like the one size nappies (but they all pocket lol) and i like how easy AIO's sound haha .. so maybe get few beehinds one size and couple AIOS for DD and when little man growns and DD is out of nappies he can use them.. see whatever i buy for DD now i know DS can use in the end... DD is 10kgs so what size AIO's can i expect shell fit?? and when is she most likely too potty train then i know if i need too buy bigger sizes at all... i have very short time too build my stash so i need all the help i can get..

If anyone has MSN and can help me that way would be great i_am_llama@msn.com

I dont wanna spend too much but i want too have a decent stash so i wont run out in between washes.. ALso if you have any links too great nappy sites please let me know.. i know nurture nappies and darlingsdownunder i believe it is and the beehinds ones.. the prefolds are 3$ each and for 12 then its 72 dollars or more... depending on the sizes..

Theres lots of trial packs out there, which work out well to try different ones

You can get Thirsties covers from Aus, just letting you know (incase you didnt cos you just mentioned getting them from OS).

Its all very confusing untill you have some in your hands and you figure out what it all means and how they work
