Default Stay Dry Liners

I was wanting to make some liners for the babies nappies so they aren't wet on the skin. I was going to use microfleece but read that it dries the skin so shouldn't be directly on the babies bum. What do you use then? Is there another material that draws moisture away but doesn't hurt bub? Im confused.

I think it is microfibre that shouldn't be directly on the skin.

yep, like Melanie said, you might be getting microfleece confused with microfibre, whic shouldn't be used against the skin.

Microfleece is fine for liners

oh cool thanks girls. I was a little confused lol

So microfleece will keep the skin dry too?

here you go, i'm a sewer with L plates on, but this is my MCN Fabrics for Dummies Guide (for me):

STAY DRY FABRICS
- suedecloth,
- microFLEECE (sold at spotlight as MICRO POLAR FLEECE, often under the Little Additions brand, 100% polyester, read the tag on the roll).

ABSORBENT FABRICS
- bamboo,
- hemp,
- sherpa,
- microFIBRE

WATERPROOF FABRICS
- PUL including ProCare PUL,
- malden mills fleece (windpro or 300wt, or 200wt double layer)
- double layer polar fleece
- 100% or very high content merino wool (that has been lanolised)

Ok so another question. Fleece keeps moisture in? Like for flongies. Would you have to line them? Or just fleece?

from reading what the proper sewers seem to use, i have picked up

FLONGIES

**one version
single layer of 300wt or windpro malden mills fleece (can only buy it online)

**another cheaper version
outer layer (long pants) of polar fleece
inner layer (hidden shorts layer, or hidden sling layer) of microfleece

microfleece is the stay dry layer
polar fleece is the waterproof layer

(and then there is hemp fleece, bamboo fleece etc, which are ABSORBENT layers in MCN)

so different sorts of fleece.

just bare in mind that not all babies bum like synthetic against their bottoms. Lily only liked natural fibers against her skin, and often i had to use silk against her bum. Only now as an infant is she tolerating the fleece.

Also often we needed the absorbency right against her bottom coz she didnt pee in large amounts, so often it woujld dribble over the fleece, so i found it more useful to have cotton/ bamboo/ hemp agaist her skin to absorb it straight away. this is also why i didnt have much success with most AIO and pockets.
