Default MCN for Premmie Baby?

What nappy would you recommend to a mother of a premmie baby?
She wants the MCN style preferring not to use flats that have to be folded.

I really had no idea, I told her to jump online and google Modern Cloth Nappies to get some more info.

Thanks!!

Mine wasn't premmie but I found the cotton tri-folds to be good (in premmie size), with a tiny cover like a Bummi's?? These were probably the best for trimness, IMO.

initially with meghan(35 weeks 5lb3oz) we used flanny flats and snibs (2 1/2 weeks in hospy so i didnt have to wash) - but the only other nappies that i found good were xs very baby nappies, nb raphaels and xs swaddle bee fitteds. really they arent that great cos they dont have a huge lifespan as by say 3 mths they are out grown.
i would look at flanny flats and snibs and a osfm like baby behinds if they want simplicity afterwards.

If you ask a WAHM they will usually custom to the size you want

i noticed XS monkey doodles on sale at ozbabytrends last night
and NB sized Bum Genius AIO's on the nurture nappies "specials" page
so there are two aio's that fit from 2.5kg onwards, close up with aplix.

there are also Very Baby AIO's on the sale page at the weewuns, just look at the NB or XS sizes.

now that i've used mcn, and on a newborn, i would personally go for bamboo foldups and leg gusset covers, great for pootainment and more economical - but for many people coming into MCN for the first time, they are very keen on the AIO's.

Would contours work?
Our kissaluv contours were pretty small

I would go with the prefolds in premmie size or newborn size - the life of them is much longer as you can use them as stuffers in pockets and then general cleaning etc after children are out of nappies for good

I loved bummi's covers. My son was born at 32 weeks but I didn't have him in cloth till he was about 4 months old - if I had my time again I would defintely go for the prefolds and xs bummi's covers. You might be able to get some secondhand covers and prefolds in good condition as the covers aren't used for very long.

I used bamboo trifolds inside Bummis covers, or else premmie size prefolds in Bummis for a while. The other fitteds that were really quite small (but still took a few weeks to fit my boys) were the Whizz Kidz newborns and bubblebubs newborns (AIO's).

I had some contours made by greenkids and kissaluvs and they were pretty useful too! HTH.

Mandy Mac nappies fit 2.5kg til toilet training. She won't have to fold them like with flats, but she will need to use a Snappi. The advantage though, is that she gets a perfect fit around the legs and doesn't have to spend $$$ buying bigger nappies as baby grows.
Definitely a cover with gussets - poonami's are not fun to clean up.
I also found Bluegum Babies, Ekidna Designs and Erica Nappies newborn size to be tiny - they fit my babies for a whole week by which time they were over 5kg - so might suit a 2.5kg baby.
