    Question disposable nappy liners

I've been using cloth terry and flannel squares for the past couple of weeks part time as I didn't have any covers. The day my covers (bummies PUL wraps and woollen soakers) arrived I was using them full time, but it seems DD doesn't like the disposable liners. We had tears and sobbing that stopped as soon as I changed her into a sposie. It took a while to figure out
I really like the idea of using flushable liners, any suggestions on how I can get DD used to the liners - I bought a roll of 500 and would have used maybe 50 since she was born.

What sort of disposable liners are you using?

Can you go to your local Spotlight and get some microfleece and cut into liners instead? While you are washing nappies, washing liners shouldn't be any extra work.

There are some pretty crappy ones which feel like that horrible toilet paper you get in public toilets, so you have to watch out!! I started off using disposable liners - I used the Eenee ones which are quite soft, but after a while I just made myself a little squirt and found it heaps easier to use that instead of liners (not to mention cheaper!) I also agree with Karen - I got 3 pieces of cute nappy cut micro fleece and cut them up to use as liners if I need them - they are much softer and stay dry too.

i found the bummis and the tots bots ones very soft. i have part of a roll leftover, if you want it, just pm me your addy and i'll send them to you, the softer type make all the difference.

if you've bought 500 of the sandpaper ones, all i can say is, you have my sympathies.

i used the sandpapper ones on my child too, until i found out (by accident) there was a softer alternative (thank goodness).

I buy old fleecy bunny rugs from salvos etc for like $1 and cut them up as soft liners (older they are the softer they are!). That way if need be I can throw it out and it's no real biggie, because yes, sometimes I baulk at cleaning that scrap of cloth .

Can the disposable liners you already have & DD doesn't like be used for something else? (I have no idea what they look/feel like or absorbency). Maybe as paper towel type uses like wiping floor spills etc?

    Are you Breastfeeding?

Looking at your sig - your baby is only a couple of month old. Anyway, if you are, you don't need disposable liners yet anyway. The poo is water soluble and will just come off in the cold pre-rinse.

Save the liners for when they start solids - she might be a bit more tolerant by then. If you are bottle feeding - then try a different brand - some suggestions have been made - but keep your current ones as you can still use them when she's a bit older.

    Thank you for the replies,

monicat - the liners are the eenee ones. I got them from Mothers Direct. You made yourself a 'little squirt' - that is clever! Was it difficult? I've only heard of the little squirt not actually seen one IRL.

Superwoman - yes DD is exclusively BF. I did wonder if I could just put the nappies straight in the machine and wash.

bilbylove - that's very sweet of you, I'll pm you.

mumma+me - sounds like a great idea about the old bunny rugs.

I think my plan is to hang onto the liners until she is a bit older. Maybe her skin might have 'toughened' up by then. (Poor little bottom) I'll also pop down to spotlight and have a look for microfleece.

I just used to put Charlottes BF poo nappies into the wash - do a rinse cycle on the machine and then wash as normal. It all comes off!!

Making a LS wasn't very hard - I'm a plumber but if you or DH are handy it's pretty easy I just used a length of garden hose and a hand held garden trigger thing. I have some pics of if you want them PM me.

I have found the liners I used to be really tough and I didn't like using them. I use microfleece which I find pretty good but most of the time I find the little squirt is great and don't really need liners anyway.
