    Default Washing cloth...

Ok I was thinking what else I had to buy and how to deal with dirty nappies and I was going to buy a bin with a flip lid. The ones where you stand on the pedal and it opens up for you. That should keep the smell in pretty good for *dry pailing*?

But then I came across that cloth nappies need a warm wash. My front loader is a cold water washer only! Even though it has cold options and then 40 and 60?? I dun even know how the pre wash option works! I lost the manual ages ago!

Someone else can help wit the bucket/bin, but just wanted to say - your machine might be one that uses cold water but heats it itself if you choose the other options?

    I always wash in cold.
prerinse in cold, wash in cold

our machine is a cold one that heats it's own water ie doesn't need a hot water tap to hot wash so as Kirrily said this may be the same for yours. Also
warm/hot can set any potential stains (same as blood/vomit etc)
and on 'how to get my nappies into a front loader' (different to a toppie) I have a PUL nappy bucket liner that a lovely WA NCer made me in a swap, I just lift that out and 'push' the nappies into the front loader using my fist on the outside bottom of the liner bag iykwim

I found a great pedal bin at Bunnings - not long ago, so they should still have them. It has two sides - 15litres each, with stainless steel outside and internal buckets - making trips to the washing machine easy.
I like the idea of one side for wet nappies/wipes/liners and the other for soiled ones. It is definately better than those cheap plastic buckets - where you sometimes have to wrestle with the lid . I think it was around $50 or so.
