What washing detergent do you use?

Hi ladies,

I have always used OMO for my regular washing as I have psorisis (even when I was living at home and that was quite a while ago now). Once my son was born I switched and have remained on OMO sensitive as he has ecema (fortunately not very badly). I often look longingly at the more eco friendly brands in the supermarket but I am afraid of messing with a system that I know works for us.

I was planning on using the OMO senstivie with prefolds and MCN but today read an information pamphlet on MCN that said regular detergent is not the best for MCNs .......... I can always use something different for the MCNs and stick with OMO (I will have to for a while as I tend to buy in bulk when i find OMO on special so we have heaps in the cupboard at the mo!)

Hence my I am asking what washing detergent do you ladies sucessfully use?

I use Purity or Amolin without any problems. I've got soapnuts also, but they've been ticking me off lately. I also used one that I think was called Hurricane Green Power? Something like that. It was good and no probs with the MCNs, however my new machine needs low-suds which rules it out.

I use aware. I think there are 2 options for it, sensitive and reg, I use sensitive, has less stuff in it I think.

ecostore powder, LOVE it used it after reading lots here use it and we got a new washing machine so had to switch to front loader suitable stuff and its Fab

i am an omo lover here sweetpee and have used it on my nappies for 20 months with no problem. i don't use the sensitive just the high performance one. i use probably a tablespoon-full amount (if that) and cold water and my nappies are hardly ever needing a strip wash (or am i too lazy for that?). my nappies look as new as the day i bought them. the only repairs i have made is replacing a couple of bumgenius elastics once but hey, who hasn't?
i think the health of you and your bubs skin should be a priority for you...good luck!

Kitikova, why have the soap nuts been annoying you? I have been looking into them as an attractive alternative to the OMO ...

I use ecostore too, about 1/4 scoop per wash and I started out just using it for the nappies, now I use it for everything! - I think the problem with regular detergent is that it contains enzymes, which are bad for the nappy.

I use Amolin or Purity (the baby laundry liquids) I use about a tablespoon of the liquid for a full load. I read somewhere that powders shouldn't be used because they leave a lot of residue.

Doing this, I have no problems with build up of any kind, and have only had to strip wash once (due to getting secondhand MCNs that aleady had buildup)
