    Default Measurement which is important

    * Mod, I am not sure this is where I should be posting but if I am at the wrong place, kindly relocate the topic, thanks*

    Hi all,

I have purchase the sandman nappy that is my starting point. I am looking at buying other brand's nappy too to try on but I am LOST !

I measure her and the result are waist 18' (47cm), thigh 10' (26cm) and rise 34 - 35cm. These measurements are without nappy, with nappy rise is 40-41cm.

    My confusion are as follow:
    1. When buying the nappy or the cover which come first? The weight, waist, thigh or rise?
    2. How much extra estimation rise I can have for a tummy sleeper?
    3. When buying the cover should I base on the rise without or with nappy? If it is with nappy isn't that will ne in accurate?
    4. If between size among small and medium, I mean in waist measurement, should I take the bigger size or others does factor in this decision?
    Please help

personally i feel that rise and thighs are the first ones to look at.
if their thighs are at the top end of the range listed, and waist at the bottom then you may need to go up a size to get enough room through the rise to go around the thighs.
weight will also help with the estimation, as sometimes measurements alone can be a bit deceptive.

when buying a cover, you go by the measurement with a nappy on, as the cover is going over the top of a nappy.

from the measurements you've given, I'd say she's probably hovering between a small and a medium, depending on the brand of nappy, and how you like your nappies to fit.
waist measurement is usually the last thing I look at, unless the smallest measurement listed for the nappy is obviously a lot too big for the child and will fall down!

allowing extra estimation in the rise will often change the way the nappy fits. if you have a nappy that is designed to sit on the hips, and you upsize to make it sit higher, then often you will get sag around the legs, which leads to leaks.
some brands of nappies are shape to come up a bit higher in the rise, so if you prefer a higher rise, then going with those brands rather than upsizing will probably give you a better fit.
off the top of my head, brands like Cherub's Kiss both HoneyBoys! and Auriels, Bits for Bots, Bubblebubs, Green Kids, Keester Kovers (from Possum Pouches) are all ones I've either used or had experience with, that sit a bit higher in the rise. I'm sure there are lots of others out there.
