Bamboo prefolds from either Bumboo or booroi would be nice!!

Thirsties covers have a gusset good for newborn poosplosions, bummis are good, BBH are ok!

Have you looked at getting some OSFM nappies? or buy for baby has nappies second hand and quite cheap!

So you have Cotton Terry flats, Flannel flats and Bamboo Terry flats (which are the most absorbant out of the three)

Then you can get prefolds, which are like a flat but half the folding is already done for you - hence, 'pre'fold You only need to fold it into 3 length ways.

I've got bamboo prefolds from Mandy Macs & some coming from Bumboo. So far I've got 4 motherease xs rikki covers, 1 motherease xs airflow cover, & 2 wool covers.
On top of that I have some small fitteds I got from buy for baby & I've also got a heap of terry flats from when I had Alex that I'm going to use boosters in.
That's just to give you an idea of what someone else may use anyway .

I'm liking the Thirsties newborn covers, but also like using fleece covers overnight. They all dry pretty quickly. A friend knitted a pair of wool longie which are lovely too.

My friend also loaned me a stack of muslin squares - they're a good addition to prefolds and terry as they dry so quickly. Obviously they get saturated quickly too ... but I'm finding them a good winter option in these first couple of weeks.

For DS2 when he was a newbie (getting old now! ) I used small Bummis (was given some NB ones but they didn't fit long on my big boy!) and Booroi bamboo fleece prefolds.

I had two NB magic-alls that got next to no use, they didn't fit too well (though better than others) and simply didn't last long enough. Also had two Swaddlebees AIOs. They were ok too.
I folded the prefolds into fours (not thirds) lengthwise and spread it out at the front not the back and just popped the cover over the top. It worked fantastically. No poopsplosions yet.

I do like the Everyday Quickdry Fitteds from the Cloth Nappy Shop too. They fit really well. I didn't get to try the newborn size, but the smalls fit perfectly and were easy to put on.

Newborns are so awkward to nappy though really, whatever you use.

As someone who is about to give birth soon, I thought I'd list what I have:
Some Booroi bamboo prefolds (size 1) - as they will take a while to dry I also got some quicker drying bumboo bamboo terry flats (newborn size). I have some muslin squares I plan to put the small boosters from the BBH one size nappies I have in.
I bought a pack of cheap flannelette flats - as the terry flats I have will be too bulky to use at first.I also have motherease one-size nappies - but I'm not sure if they will be a good newborn fit.
I got 4 xs thirsties pul covers, 2 small motherease air-flow, a small Bummies SW wrap and 4 small BBH wraps. I'd like to get some wool covers too.
I wanted a good mix of everything - and added some quick dry options as it will be winter and I won't be using a dryer.
    Hope that helps,
    Mel.
