    Default Booster fabric from SL?

    Hi!

I asked DP if I could buy some more Hemp from the Margaret River Hemp Co. today and he said def not and no more covers!

I have some loose change floating around and I want to make some more boosters.

Is there any material at SL I can pick up tomorrow?

I know microfibre is not to touch the skin and I can get that from Woolies and I don't want any.

I know microfleece or polarfleece is used for liners.

Anything absorbant enough to do the job?

Towelling is the only thing I can think of off hand but isn't as absorbant as hemp or bamboo and will be more bulky. How much fabric were you thinking of buying? I can send you some hemp fleece I've got here, if you like. I had ambitions of making my own nappies and just never got around to it. If you can cover the postage, you're welcome to some of it.

Yep, the only things that you could get from spotlight that would suit are cotton toweling or flannelette. Neither are particularly absorbent compared to bamboo/hemp, like Paula said.

If you do decide to get the toweling, you are better off buying cheapish towels and cutting those up, than the toweling fabric that they sell in a roll. The fabric is ridiculously expensive, or at least it used to be...

A lot of Izzy's nappies were made from towels, as the fabric is a lot more sturdy and thirsty than the towelling you get from Spotlight. They worked perfectly well, dried quickly and as a day nappy I don't think they performed any worse than my bamboo ones now plus they were snappiable a big plus for me .

Check the quality of the towel, if its one of those ones that pull then don't get them, but otherwise, yep sounds good. I'd do 2 layers and then fold it in 3 just make one towel to try it out and see what you think. I was really happy with the result.

Ummm just trying to think of a shop that isn't to exy that would sell towels that are a bit more top quality...

Baines or something? Woolies would be to cheap come to think of it.

When you mean 2 layers do you mean sew 2 together and fold into 3?

So I should buy a nice towel and cut it into 30x30 and fold it in half to double it and see what happens aye?

I think I've got a few metres but I could just cut you some off. It was a tube of fabric but I can't remember now if I cut it flat or not. It's pretty wide. I'd say a metre would prob fit into a 3kg postbag. I'll send whatever fits in there if that's going to be enough.

I wonder if 30cmx30cm would be too bulky for a new born, in a double layer?

a 30x30 will be pretty big on a newborn!

tbh, I reckon towelling would actually work out more expensive than hemp, as well as being bulkier.

    Yeah that is true!

What size is good for a newborn booster?

I hope someone can help me soon! I'm going out in a little while to look for a nice towel at the op shops.

I could just stop in at SL and buy some toweling? Like half a metre and cut it into a strip size for a nb and put away my 30x30 hemp doublers till the baby is big enough for them?

dimmey's sells egyptian cotton towels for $10. good size as well, so you'd get heaps out of one.

op shop/GSI... doesn't need to be new and you'll get more for your money s/hand. I don't mean a really munted towel but you can get them w quite a lot of life left in... or flannelette sheets etc that kinda thing. THat's how we did our nappy stash for $70 for 3 doz for #3
