Default I have returned and need some help...again

I had Logan 5 days ago and now I'm home hehe. I will post pics!

Anyways his one of those nb who has a massive freak out when his getting changed or just naked for a wash. I know it will settle down eventually but it makes changing a cloth nappy very frustrating!!!

I got home yesterday and I tried to put a terry on and that didn't work then a prefold and had a little more success but it gaped. I then folded a prefold into a cover and did the cover up quickly and that's working so far, but not what I really wanted to do. I would rather use the prefolds as they are more cost effective I spose and not as bulky atm. Logan is 2 weeks early. I just need some ideas till I can get some smaller covers which are coming and some Booroi ones to try where you just fold the prefold and place it in the cover and wack it on. That would be perfect for Mr Thrash Around atm.

I hold him in my arms and undo his cloths and nappy and quickly lay him on the cover and do it up and then pick him up and fix it all up in my arms before he gets to freaked out.

Till I get more covers terrys would be more absorbant atm. He does wee alot actually as I thought he would going on my DS1 as a baby.

Jo Fold just doesn't seem to work on him, his belly is quite round and I can't get the wings around. I need a easy fold that I can do up quickly or fold before hand quickly. Maybe for a prefold too? Then I could wack a cover on and adjust it while his in my arms.

So far I'm a bit disenchanted with using cloth and tired lol.

Igloo behaved like that and I had just as much trouble using sposies. I am pretty sure it is the Jo fold we are using here on my almost 2 year old. He is not a chubby kid but he certainly isnt super skinny. Did you want to upload a pic of how you have the nappy folded?

    Thats sounds like Miss Abby

She would scream like she was having her legs removed

I had a whole heap of AIOs and just used them.....but if I had to do fitteds and covers she just screamed for a little longer

Bathing her was bad ..........she was the first of my 7 that hated having baths

took her a while to grow out of it too

Hey Morgs welcome back and congrats on the safe arrival of little Logan!!

I have no words of advice but sending lots of positive vibes your way .... and really try not to beat yourself up, if you need to use the odd 'sposie in the next few weeks until you and Logan sort out this whole cloth nappy business do so, there is no shame in it at all!

The Booroi system is fantastic from what i have seen though they recommend that you snappy the prefold on before putting on the cover with a new born just for a better fit. Once you get their covers it will make more sense why they recommend it!

Keep up the good work and lots of hugs for you and Logan!

Love the jo fold You should be able to get it to fit the same way as any other nappy. You need to fold the crotch wider which will then make the wings longer.

DS was a screamer some change time, it was horrible.

Can you perhaps have a little practice on a doll or something so when it comes to change time its quick?

I also had all my flats prefolded with DS so I could just grab them and go. There is no way I could fold a nappy with him screaming.

Lucky for us sposies werent an option for us with DS as we just didnt have the money to buy disposables anyway. Somebody bought us some as a gift but I was too precious with them cause I didnt want to waste them so they ended up getting too small before I even got through half the pack.

Hey Morgs, those little ones don't like being nuddy do they?! We've only given DS2 a few baths and he's not a fan! He's not quite as bothered by nappy changes now (at 4 weeks) unless I take too long, he's got a sore tummy or it's the middle of the night!

If you're after something speedy a prefold already laid inside a cover seems to be quickest for us.

Don't be too hard on yourself, your bub isn't even a week old and you just need to be there for him right now. To confess I have used some sposies that were given to us when I have been really tired or not coping so well BUT they have been so much more likely to leak than the cloth! DS2 is a super-wee-er too!

Stick with the prefold and cover option as it's as quick as an AIO but cheaper
    Have the ready to go.
If you're worried about containment, we used to put the prefold on and then quickly roll it in around the legs as this kind of sealed anything that could come out, in.
You can always double prefold too and just roll the legs in on the one clsest to his butt.

    Congratulations Morgan!!

A prefold padfolded inside any cover should work, like Jules suggested. Only prob being that if you get an explosive poo you'll need to change the cover, so I suppose it might depend on how often he poos and how many covers you have!

I found with both my first two (DD1 in disposables and DS in cloth) we got quite a few leaks in the first few weeks, it was just a matter of finding our way and getting the hang of it. Didn't really with DD2 cos DS was still in nappies so I wasn't out of practice at all, heh.

I love the Jo fold here, you might need to play around with the dimensions so that it goes under the little round belly?

But like everyone else said, don't stress if you need to use some disposables or if you are getting leaks (get DH to do the laundry!!), rest up and enjoy your squishy bub.

Kes was like that and some days she still is... baths are a very stressful for her.... I'm not use to it as my other 3 LOVED the water

I found when I was changing her that if I put her on the change table and held her hands as i was taking the lower half off (not easy with 1 hand but doable) or I would wrap her hands with a small wrap but folded up the wrap behind her so the bottom half as not wrap iykwim she would cry a lot less as she still felt safe.... She has a thing about when her feet are exposed also

I used prefolds with a cover with gussets at first but now she os starting to out grow the prefolds so I'm pad folding them so we get a bit longer as the bigger nappies I have is a huge jump to were she is atm, I'm also using some small fitteds that do up with a snappi, I like using a snappi so we get a good fit

here is a link or 2 on prefold folds Folding Instructions , http://diaperpages.com/pf_folds.php I use the newspaper fold but the jelly roll is good to for newborn blowouts but I found I needed to add a booster

For flats folds I love the bat fold I used that while I was in the hospital with fannel flats and with the handful of flats I use at home .... I found it quick to fold once I got the flow going and its always best to fold up a heap of nappies when bub is sleeping so u just have to grab and put on at change times

Here is a link to other flat folds you might find useful (I loved the Maria for DS1 when he got older as he was a big wee'er but its a little tricky) Terry Square Instructions, The Bat/Butterfly/Chinese Fold, The Nappy Lady
