MCN make babies sweat?

Hi all,

Had a relo tell me today that I was wasting my money on cloth nappies as her daughter in law had had some cloth nappies given to her and they had made her little daughter sweaty?

I insisted (because I can NEVER be told that I am wrong ) that perhaps her daughter in law had been using the good ol' plastic pilchers or cheap covers from say Big W (sorry if Big W has quality covers) and that if she had of been using good quality PUL covers then sweating would not have been an issue.

My relo insisted that her duaghter in law was using prefolds and covers just like I have ... which actually she could not have as the sweaty baby in quesiton is now nearly 3 and I have booroi prefolds and covers .... I know at least that the covers are only a recent addition to their product list.

So would I be right in saying that the covers they were most likely using not up to scratch? Why else would a MCN make a baby sweaty?

Ummm i would say plasticy covers would do it.. ive never had a sweat problem in pul covers etc... but in a cheapo ones would... i would say.

yep i would say she was using plasticy covers too
i've never had a problem tho i did 11 years ago when Stephen was is terry flasts and plastic pilchers. I have seen plastic ones that velcro and look like some PUL ones. ask her where she got them

Yep pretty much what everyone else had said, poor quality covers / and or being left on too long!!

All very valid points ladies ...... I did try to ask a few of these questions myself but quickly figured out that it was not worth beating my head up against a brick wall.

I will be seeing the daughter in law and sweaty baby at a family gathering next month and will certainly be dying to ask her these questions, hopefully i can show her a better alternative as she is expecting bub #3 towards the end of this year!! (my little mcn model will be out and about by then!)

I would say that the plastic pilchers/covers and maybe the leaving on too long points might just ring true here. Teething wee can be especially toxic and hot, so maybe baby wasnt sweaty all the time?
