    Default Alternative to napisan

    Hi Girls
so far im stocking up on terry flats will wait to get mcn's until bub is here and I know what size it will be. Anyway the terry flats need to be soaked in something I assume and we cant use napisan due to the type of septic we have so any other ideas?? I was thinking bicarb or vinegar?? and how strong do you make it??

    TIA

I could be very wrong, but I don't think you 'have' to soak them. Just wash then sunlight to dry and kill any remaining icky bits.
Read my blog! or not... I guess I can't force you... or can I???!!!

If they do require soaking, napisan wouldn't be a prob really, and it need not harm your septic as you could just put it in a bucket and tip it in the garden when finished. Just a thought. I have a septic and use napisan, and white king oxy boost, no worries.

    Nope.. no soaking required.

Sunlight has amazing properties and whitening effects even on an overcast day.

In 4 yrs of cloth nappying I haven't used any soaker other than warm water and the normal washing detergent I use.

Nappysan and other whiteners contain chemicals and enzymes that can upset the balance in your septic. If you wouldn't pour it on your garden, I'd hardly put it through a septic.

Yep, I stopped using Napisan on my terry flats once I found out about drypailing, and never noticed a difference in the whiteness or cleanliness of my nappies. Sunlight is a wonderful stain remover and sanitiser, and way more healthy than all those chemicals! Not to mention cheaper too!

I like the Eco Store equivalent of Napisan. Available in Woolies supermarkets and actually works!

So far with my terrys I have just put them out on the line and any stains are pretty much faded or just really really faint.
