Default a few questions from a newbie!!

so im trying to get my head around all the different types of nappies!!
but have a few questions, probably pretty silly ones, but i wont know if i dont ask, lol.

    so..
absorbancy wise, hemp or bamboo and why??
pul covers or wool ones, and why??

my lil man is 5weeks old and a heavy wetter, if you could suggest just one nappy to try what would it be?? i dont want to try a 1000 different types, lol.
and then aio,a12,osfa, pockets, its all to confusing to me, whats your favourite?

sorry for all the silly qs!

    ok my personal experience -
had hemp with ds and mostly bamboo for dd
I prefer bamboo as it seems to absorb more but also doesnt get as stinky.
covers - i prefer woolies for night and either wool or pul for day time. wool i find works better for longer periods of time and allows breathing .
nappy - i started with baby behinds bamboo nappies - cnat go past them for reliability and durability and the benifit is they are a OSFM.
my favourite fitted would be between these and a bits for bots or a whizz kidz for day time
night time - a bbh bamboo or a Whizz kidz night
and also look at mandy mac nappies - great nappy , heaps of adjustability both with regards to boosting as they are a pocket and size as they dont have snaps or aplix but use a snappi which is great on little ones to get the fit right. i have had a few of these and think they are fabulous nappies
aio - i cant go past itti bitti nappies for trim fit these are probably the easiest to get your hands on out of my fave aio/2's
covers - bbh pul and wool covers are great, i have heard excellent things about thirsties covers too.
i use hand knit covers for night and pul during the day when meg was little , with ds i mainly used aio . meg at 2 now mainly wears aio during the day.

hope i have helped a little

For heavy wetters you can't beat bamboo, it's absorbent and reasonably trim. I like it as the hemp na[[ies I have tend to be slightly smellier than the bamboo, but I think(?) hemp actually lasts longer.

Most of my everyday stash is Baby Beehind fitteds and wool covers for the breathability. They are the ones I have used most since I started and my baby is now 17 months and I still use them now, so they are good value for money IMO.

They are a good place to start, and then maybe just buy a couple of AIO/2s and pockets, and see what you like and what suites your bubba!

As I said I just have a main stash of BBB, which I use at home, and then have a few different WAHM AIO/pocket nappies for going out as they tend to be trimmer under clothes than fitteds and covers.

I started with pea pods pockets , then starting buying the Baby Beehind Bamboo fitted osfa ,they are great.

I use with a pul during the day and at night with a bamboo tri folded inbetween the nappy and wool cover.

I use a itti bitti suede snap in one at night to keep ds2 dry but I did start with some microfleece cut into the shape of the nappy.

its very brain overloaded when looking at all the nappies (ive been through it as well)

aio and some pockets are by size
    fitted once size fits all
    covers by size.

    good luck

    Hemp or Bamboo?
Hemp for quick drying, bamboo for absorbancy. I find help ok for daytime and use bamboo at night. With bamboo nappies I try and look for ones that are not too thick in any area, so fold out boosters etc. Or I use a hemp fitted and add a bamboo booster. I find Hemp to be more durable too, seems to cope better with the toxic teething wees.

    Wool or PUL?
I love love love my woollies, Nanuq has basically been in nothing else, I think they are great. For a longer car ride I will probably use a PUL cover or if under other clothes a PUL cover. On Igloo he only wears wool at night since he would destroy woollies at his age during the day. I use fleece pants for him during the day and PUL covers when we go out.

My fav type of nappy are fitteds, gives me the freedom to alter breathability. Igloo tends to rash up if in PUL all day.

    Fav brand to recommend:
I love my Whizz kidz for day time, they dry pretty well. They fit my 2 year old and are close to fitting my 2 week old.
I would also suggest mandy macs probably their hemp over bamboo (im not sure how well bamboo copes with snappi's), they also fit my 2 year old and are a perfect fit on my 2 week old.

    For nights:
Wild Child Dreamy Nights - although not sure how well they would fit your little one just yet. These are by far my fav's for my 2 year old.
Mandy Mac purple nights - can be super absorbant but also very bulky with all the boosters, works well on my 2 year old.

I totally second the BBB, they are a great OSFM and like I mentioned before they snap apart for a much quicker drying time, Bamboo is super absorbent but does take ages to dry.I love that its a natural fiber, and that its an eco friendly material. If I had to have only one nappy this would probably be it... but luckily i dont so ill also say that for going out we love AIO's/ AI2's and (to repeat myself from the other thread!) of all the ones we've tried the Dreameze AIO are the first ones I reach for and the ones that i always have in the nappy bag. The other plus for me about both of these nappys are really well priced, the BBB does need a cover, (we have wool) but you'll get your money out of them for sure.
That said, it is really hard to say what nappy is going to suit what baby, I was sure, that I was going to use OSFM pockets and fell in love with a particular nappy only to find that it didnt really suit Clementine (luckily on good advise i purchased just one to try), and that after trying them I really loved fitteds for home and AIO for out and about, so I guess that doesnt really help ?
