wow!! I used to think liam was a heavy wetter until I read this thread! At night he has either the vbsn with a super bambooster and a wool cover or a cuddlebuns with super bambooster, and a bambooster and a microfibre booster with shorties! now i'm curious how many layers he wears lol. never counted just trial n error!

what is the record of layers? does henry win the crown? I vaguely remember someone's munchykin used to wet through a vbsb and a bbb?

Hi there,
During the day, my DD uses a Bubba J size 2 hemp plus booster, so I think that makes it 7 layers but I'm not sure of the layers in a Bubba J hemp. I know that when I make up a Motherease I put a hemp trifold of 6 layers in it and it is no more absorbent!
What I do get from the 7 layers is an all morning nappy if I need it - eg shopping after the preschool drop off! Actually, whether she holds on and does it all at once or in stages, it is usually all wet by early afternoon if I let it get that wet.

What I found funny was watching her this morning walking in her night nappy, when I came out from the shower and she had got up (via the helping hand of Daddy) while I was in the shower. What a waddle bottom!

cheers,

Well my heavy wetter is now in home made fleece AIO's - well not quite AIO, the boosters are all lay in. NOt as the morning heavy nappy but second nappy or late afternoon nappy. With 9-12 layers of hemp and two layers of fleece on the outer it is a great nappy to use for short durations and with on extra booster seems to be as good as the full hemp fitted with PUL cover. WOW!! It is no more bulky than the fitted with cover and so far, no leaks - yay!!! Heaps cheaper for the top up nappy supply, especially with winter coming on, and wet weather.

Hi again,
The home made AIO's are still standing up. My DD is so variable now at 22mo. She can wee big wees regularly all morning or do one big one then be dry until after her nap!!!! I'm not very observant of her fluid intake which may be the answer but I also think she is learning to hold on.
cheers,

Hi again,
Well winter is here and yes DD is holding on and doing huge wees. She can get a Bubba J hemp with booster in PUL cover to leak, especially if the clothing is tight in against the cover, eg body suit with wide crotch. If I'm going to put her in body suits, I'll have to add a microfibre cloth inside the nappy to be a quick absorber.
The AIO's survive really well with microfibre folding cleaning cloth and 12 layers hemp in the wet zone (ie at the front with less at the back). I just can't get over the two leaks I've had with hemp and PUL though - I didn't think that was possible from 1 wee, but then I don't hold on all afternoon until just before 5pm!!!
As for nights, well I am now changing her at times during the night because she calls out saying wee wee!!! Tonight I am going to make some new fleece liners with the hope that they will keep her drying and she won't wake as easily. Until now I have used muslin/crepe cotton to prevent leaks out the side if they don't absorb quickly.
Don't they change quickly!!!??
have a good evening,

Hmm just re-reading the above,
Well, the calling for a new nappy at night has stopped just as suddenly as it started and the change to newer liners didn't help, but I didn't put polarfleece, only microfleece and in the day time I have found that polar with flannelette booster attached does work best in the dryness stakes. JUst need the chance to make some more!!
The leaks haven't continued either, it must have been the body suits wicking out the wee. I am adding a microfibre cloth when I have a spare, for the first nappy of the day - usually the heaviest, depending on whether the first wee is in the night nappy or not!!
cheers,
Sheree

Hi again,
Well the ability to hold on for long periods then do a big wee is very helpful for using the potty and this habit is appealing to our little wetter. She's always been a slow methodically skills learner, so we are taking potty training (not toilet - she seems to like the potty and is too short for the toilet as yet, so that can wait - it may mean the stair thing toilet seat later!) very slowly. What is nice is that she likes to use the potty, ie gets very proud of herself!!!
Meanwhile, we are still using fully hemp with boosting for day time nappies!!!
cheers,

Hi there.
Well it appears that my DD has graduated from heavy wetter nappy user to toilet trainer. She wants to use pants so I have converted to pull up nappy/trainers and trainer pants (only hold a small amount of wee - one wee for a light wetter!!).
She is very proud of her successes.
So unless we have a regression, I'll see you all in the No More Nappies section!
cheers,
