maybe you need to try a different pul cover ?? the bummis pullon pants feel nicer imo and are softer - but they are breathable nylon not pul (they seem just as watertught to me) and if you get alot of poo leaks they may be trickier to get off...
but the bummis are sandwiched pul - plain pul is softer, i think the baby beehinds covers or totsbots are normal pul. also, i have my eye on the 'thirsties' pul covers at nurture nappies aswell - they even have gussets

the only time my 5mo goes 2 hours between changes is if he's asleep that long! I change as soon as I work out he's wet, infant prefolds which still *just* fit are saturated with one wee.

hemp prefolds are good because they contain a lot of material real estate IYKWIM. Sherpa, hemp, bamboo are all good in fitteds.

I've ordered lots of hemp and a little bit of microfibre and bamboo and I'm going to experiment with it all. I'll definitely do hemp bodies and then muck around with a variety of hemp, bamboo and microfibre boosters until I find the right combination I think. I cringed using the dispies while we were away and we had about 3 serious leaks in them. We were so happy to put him back in cloth that it was the first thing we did when we walked in the door! I'm so relieved now that he doesn't stink when he's wet or has pooped. Those dispies meant he was always stinky and I hated my little boy smelling yucky.

Will let you know how I go with the new nappies when I've finished experimenting.

OK - I'm starting out by making two fitteds with hemp french terry, side snap closures - two layers in the body and not sure yet how many in the soaker. I might do snap in ones like my Berryplush inserts. They have 7 layers in total so that would mean 9 layers including the body. Surely that will keep bubs dry??? He has sooooo outgrown his little newborn ones. Time to pack them up and send them to my brother and SIL! Their baby is due in October and they're going to use cloth too.

I've also got my bamboo towelling and it's incredibly beautiful in texture. I can see why people get it and then use it for babys towel or clothing instead of nappies!
