Lately in the mornings when 17 mth old DD wakes up her nappy has been dryish. I then change her into a day nappy which she totally soaks through it in an extremely short time. Is this a sign that she is getting older?
I must remind myself to keep her night nappy on for longer.

Personally I would start encouraging her to go on the potty/toilet as soon as you get her up. We had the same thing happen here with both my boys and they are both night trained now.

you could try sitting her on the potty to do her wake up wee in the morning?

I'd give the potty a go for the morning wee - I find it's the easiest one to catch. We were doing that with great success here for a while (altho we're currently going through a very long potty pause). We'd go straight to the bathroom when we woke up and both sit on the potty/ toilet, while I read a couple of books to DD (to encourage her to wait until the wee happened). We have a potty right in front of the toilet
