I personally find thunderbird sooooooo much better than outlook.
for all it's "fancy" features, it is so buggy, and so laggy (and I don't have a slow computer lol) and there are just so many things about it that annoy me. You would think being such a huge program they would iron those kinks out.

Also wanted to add that there are lots of add-ons that you can download for thunderbird. Some very helpful ones, like a reminder add-on, that you can set appointments etc into and it will pop up and remind you about, and all kinds of other things that some people might think only outlook can do.

one thing that annoys me with thunderbird is that it says there is new mail in my local folders (the notification on the bottom toolbar) but when i go there I can't see any new mail. What is iwth this? Is it just junk that has been deleted automatically?

It might be - I'd check the deleted folder or the junk folder.

You can also train it not NOT recognise certain junk. So if it says "Thunderbird thinks this is junk" then you click on a button that say "Not Junk" and after awhile it will learn and stop putting it in the deleted folder.

that is the weird thing, there is nothing showing in any folders when it happens. ofcourse there are instances where I have got mail too

Just wanted to say I braved the change and it was sooo worthwhile! I love it! I'm still working out things but it eats my junk mail !! yahoo!

It transfered all my old messages and my folders, I do ahve to re set up my rules but it's great!
