Latest on my saga (I'm yet to write to Customer Relations or ACCC or whoever):
1. Apparently you can use a program like Disk Warrior to recover lost data
2. Apple will most likely replace the hard drive and not give me the old one
3. I can buy a new harddrive myself and install it as it's declared a 'user installable part' and replacing it in a Macbook does not void the warranty.
4. Heaps of people have had this problem.
If there's ANYone out there with a Macbook that has died, I'd love to talk to you...
