Default photographing - how to get 'colour' contrast right?

Hi guys

Some time ago, (and I did try to search for it) I think it was Shane, posted about how to use a black box, white background and backlighting (?) or some such idea, to achieve good photos with the correct colour/light contrast and 'real colours' - does anyone by chance have that bookmarked please?

I am getting the light colours to show up fine, but having trouble getting the darker colours to show up accurately - ie the brown, dark blue and black all just look black iywkim

Thanks if you can help
Kristy
