a swim mumu for a bubba?
![]() I'm not really big on swim nappies myself, so I don't think this response is really what you're after, but here goes... We swim with Oceanic Waterbabies (www.waterbabies.com.au) who don't allow huggies swim nappies in the pool (yay!) because they reckon they weigh bub down. But one escaped poo can shut down classes for the whole day. No one wants to be responsible for that... They just recommend firm elasticated legs and waist on swimmers to contain poo- and then get out of the water real quick! They sell their own "baby grow bathers" which are essentially just like homemade baby speedos that you thread the elastic through yourself to custom fit your bub. In theory, this means that the one pair should fit for about two years. We've got a pair and if I'd known what they looked like before I bought them, I probably would have had a go and making them myself. Mind you, they were only $15 I think...We also have a bright bots swim nappy. I am pretty disappointed with it really. I bought a size 00 when we started swimming (when Mischa was 11 weeks old) because that was the size clothing she was wearing, but the legs were too big for her until only about four weeks ago (Mish is mainly wearing 0s now, and she's got, um, generous thighs ). The inner (hidden layer) is very plasticky, which I suppose is intended to contain any messes, but I think this is pointless without a good fit around the legs. Mind you, the waist is adjustable with a tie/cord and they are pretty cute. And again, were pretty cheap (I think I paid about $20 in a brick and mortar shop). I guess they work fine for us now, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh. But my favourite (yes, we have three pairs of swimmers and I take all three to the pools jic there's an accident and we have to get out and change) is a pair of target bathers that I picked up in a secondhand clothing shop. They fit firmly around the legs and waist/back/ other openings without leaving red marks. And they were just bathers. (And I paid $3 for them.) Even if you had a great swim nappy, once there's a poo in it, you'd have to get out and clean up anyway - pronto! - so I figure it's only about shortterm containment and reading the "signs" in bub's face. Sorry to any swim nappy makers out there, but that's just my opinion.

We've got a Bubblebubs swim nappy, but it's poo containability has never been tested by us.. they seem nice and firm around the waist and legs, so imagine they'd be pretty good.

we've tried floaties, eenies and motherease~ i like the motherease best because they've got an inner layer of soft meshlike fabric and two separate elasticised layers around the legs.
haven't tested them out properly cos Lily's not a pool pooer. we don't go anymore though cos our saltwater pool changed hands and we won't use a chlorinated pool because of the connection between indoor chlorinated pools and the increase in childhood asthma
