My dog had pups 3 years ago. We didn't know she was in labour until we heard squeaking under out bed - first pup born. So we then moved her and pup to her whelping box (which was set up in the main bathroom) - we didn't have to do anything - just watched to make sure none got stuck, Sassy ate the placenta's, cleaned them up, cut the cords etc all by herself. They know what to do!

When my dog had puppies, two of them died from amniotic fluid in the lungs. The vet said that if I had held them with the head up, and quickly swung them down between my legs to make the fluid come up when they were born, that they would have been fine. Aparently with cows they grab them by the tail and swing them around to do it! It made me feel more guilty, knowing that there was something I could have done, but surely most people don't do that. Anyway, sorry to dampen the mood. I'm sure the kittens will be healthy little bundles of joy. I'd love to see a pic when they are up to it. Good luck!

Yah!

I read so many books before Sassy had her pups - so I knew what to do re getting them to breath (what Susannah said about swinging them), etc. But luckily her labout was nice and easy - 5 puppies in 1 hour!

It doesn't look nice, but it does work and doesn't 'hurt' them, so I'm told.
Fantastic that it wasn't required this time Renee!
Yay to Mama-Cat~!

aawwwwwww

Yeh Kristy they came real quick she had the 2 then it was about 20 min later then she had like 4 lol

I am glad there were no probs as I ain't no Vet

Gwad Stacy on your bed shock!! I am glad she chose the chage table its one of those bath in one one so the shelves are plastic easy to clean and its only storing fabric anyhow I don't use it hehe.

can't wait till they are bigger and running around now lol
The ginger one is soooo cute but is the biggest and pushes the others out of the way and is perminatley attached to the boob even when asleep in the same spot lol so it must be a boy ROFL

Cheers Renee
