I just kept saying "oh dear, never mind - it's ok!" but I know he was upset about it.
My DS was like that too. And he said the same things! he was the one who said "no Mummy I'm going to wear undies tonight" rather than me taking away the nappy.

I'm sorry that I can't offer you any advice as DS was daytime TT in January (age 2 and 8 months) and night trained by his third birthday. He hasn't worn a nappy in 2 months now, but he hardly ever asks for a nightly trip to the toilet either. He goes to the toilet within 20 minutes of waking in the morning. I don't give him a drink after dinner.

Does it really matter if he wears a night nappy?

I guess it doesn't really matter if he wears a night nappy Alice, It's just that we left them behind and went through the whole thing of telling him he was a big boy and didn't wear nappies any more. He has done really well as he was day "trained" for want of a better word around 26 - 27 months and then just a month or two after that he stopped wearing a night nappy.

I think maybe the accidents have been more frequent lately due to the cold weather and also the fact that he has had a couple of cold & flu bugs in a row now and is having a little trouble shaking them and getting back to 100%.

It doesn't really bother me if we do go back to a nappy - I just don't want it to have any negative effects on him, KWIM?

Liam is fully day tt. but we are waiting because with the cold melbourne weather and the combination of that and the huge wet nappy he has every morning he's just not quite ready ,

remember cody is only little still himself and that a lot of the time children arent totally night dry every single night till about the age of 5 . they can still have accidents. but just keep reassuring him and telling him theres nothing to worry about at all that its just learning. he will understand and i am sure he doesnt think he is stupid its just a toddlers reaction to the situation.

he is still a big boy and very clever for even trying night TT already.

I imagine it is incredibly frustrating to be feeling like you are going backwards with night TT. For us DD1 was dry at night at about 3 yrs and DD2 is not even close to dry at night and she is 4. I would do whatever is easiest for you and as long as he isn't bothered about being in night nappies i wouldn't worry about it. He might just be sleeping deeper because he has been unwell and his body is getting back to 100%. You might find that he is soon back to being dry at night.
