Hi all,
Ana's thread about Charlotte got me thinking... We have taken Cody out of a night nappy for a few months now and he has been pretty good for the most part. We have had maybe 7 or 8 accidents in that time. I know this doesn't seem like a lot but two of those have been in the last three days and on top of having a cold myself and still dealing with bubs it is getting a bit much My question is this.. How many accidents would it take for you to consider returning to a night nappy? Will this do any "harm" to him or his attitude about toileting (he is so good during the day and we have no accidents at all any more). I don't want to upset him or make him regress (we sometimes still fight about a bed-time bottle as he says "I'm not a big boy, I want a bottle!")hmmmm not sure what the right thing for him would be! For your info - if he has a drink before bed we make him go to the toilet then, he does have a polar fleece blanket and his quilt (but I'm not too sure they stay on all night!) there is a small column heater in the boys room though so it shouldn't get too cold in there! TIA Marnie

Neve is 5 in August and still wets her dry night every night.
Funny in summer she was great for two weeks and then the cold weather hit us again. I wouldn't make a big deal of it and ask him if he wants to get funky pull-ups or whatever you use. Don't call them nappies, we do in our house but Neve is that bit older. DOn't stress and I too don't want to wake up to wet sheet every night.

Try asking him what he wants to do. Perhaps if you make it his decision and let him know he can stop wearing them when he is ready he will be ok.
Anna had times where she would wet the bed more than others. We didn't put her back in a night nappy, just made middle of the night sheet changes easier for us so it was less of a big deal. But that was just what we were happy to do.

I am a little bit worried that it might make him regress because I have a feeling that's his personality. He is the "middle child" right now and I think he could easily see himself like a baby instead of a big boy if it gets attention. I have ordered one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WATERPROOF-Be...QQcmdZViewItem as he is right into the cars movie at the moment. I am hoping to try and encourage him to see if we can keep Mater and Lightning McQueen dry! I might even buy a plain one aswell so that if he wets the cars one it will have to get changed to a white one and be a lot less appealing? I just changed his sheets now though and noticed that where he wet he was on top of all the rugs and upside down in his bed! He is on a bottom bunk and was up the wrong end so in the recess under the top bunk! Maybe the cold is more of a factor than I thought?

We don't tell him off at all either Tracee, but he still gets upset! He comes down to our room in the night crying (screaming sometimes) "I'm all wet" last night he was saying "stupid, stupid!" over and over again as we pulled his wet PJ bottoms off - quite sad really! I just kept saying "oh dear, never mind - it's ok!" but I know he was upset about it.
aaarrrgggh - what to do????

Poor little man
![]() Abbey was like that and she would even take all her clothes off during the night thinking they were all wet and come in to us during the night shivering. I have a wierd child!! She is sleeping so much better now she has her nappies back. He is still only 2.5 so very young to be night dry, maybe give him a couple of months back in napipes and then try again? |

Thanks ladies! I always know where to come for advice
![]() I might try and have a little talk with him later today and see how much he understands/comprehends. Maybe I'll see what he wants to do. I'm sure he'll get there in the end and he's done so well this far! Thanks again.

Connor was fine at nights only a few weeks after he got the hang of being dry all day. He was happy to give up nappies. So, we just assumed Niamh (3 in October) would be the same. But, she doesn't want to stop wearing her pretty nappies, & she does a huge overnight wee every few days. So, she's staying in a night nappy for the moment.
We've tried without, but she hates waking up all wet - she starts crying & tries to get the wet clothes off by herself, but doesn't have much luck in the dark & the cold. With the nappy, she will get up, take of her pj bottoms, pull of the nappy & leave it somewhere near the bed, sometimes put her pj's back on & come into my bed for a cuddle & sometimes go back to sleep (depending on the time). It might change when we have a baby in the house again - she's already looking at the baby nappies & saying things like nappies are for babies, not big girls. There might be a reluctance to keep wearing them within the next few weeks.
